Is there anywhere to watch the combine?

Armstead put in a great time at 4.65, looks great too.

Thats ridiculous time from Armstead. Cam Newton only ran a 4.58 like. Mind blowing.

Te'o presser coming up in a few minutes.

Think Eifert has just solidified himself as the top TE in the draft.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 209 ✭✭theRB

Terron Armstead's time was officially 4.71s, still the fastest time of an OL though. Was impressed by Lane Johnson's athleticism, looks like he should be a solid pick for the Chargers and thought Tyler Eifert looked good as well.

Reports that he drew the largest group of reporters ever for a player at the combine. Which comes as no surprise with the recent circus surrounding him. Feedback seems pretty positive, saying that he handled himself with dignity and appeared genuinley remorseful about what happened.

    Press conference transcript here.

    Jarvis Jones

Terrible news for Jarvis Jones - the medical exams did not go so well. He received red flags from many teams, and Draft Insider's Tony Pauline reported that at least 10 teams took him off their draft boards. Pauline also predicted a Da'Quan Bowers-like fall for Jones.

Looking at the O-line yesterday at the combine and some clips of the pash rushers, I can see the O-line guys, the likes of Joeckel, losing their grip on the very top of the draft to the pash rushers.

Tavon Austin and Marquis Goodwin with a 4.25, 40.

    Tavon Austin 4.25
"I've seen a couple of mock drafts that have me going to the Baltimore Ravens, and I think that would be a blessing," Austin said. "I would like to go anywhere that calls my name. I grew up as a Ravens fan, and I liked the Patriots, too. Baltimore is definitely still home. It's always going to be home for me."

Yes please with that speed :)

Tavon Austin looking like a really good option now, will be interesting to see what Cordarelle Patterson runs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,929 ✭✭✭JaMarcus Hustle

Good chance Austin will shatter the 3 cone drill and shuttle records.

Yup definitely, I want to see us go pass rusher first now, Oline second.

He's a beast. He didn't run a good 40 time. I wouldn't care, if teams pass on him Giants should snap him up

This right here is the reason stupid teams always end up having high picks. An offensive guard ran a slow 40. Shock horror. One of the smart franchises will get an absolute steal if he falls.

I highly doubt franchises will pass on him because he ran a slow 40 time. A much more likely reason for him falling is that teams don't value that position highly enough to select him in the top 10 or 15.

Yeah there is some very vocal Titan fan based reaction now to say they shouldnt take him , I'll be honest i think most of that is because people are stupid and see a RB or WR or an oddity on the D/O lines running fast times.

I still think we should take him..

    Marquise Goodwin 4.25

Gil Brandt saying he timed Goodwin at 4.17 & 4.19. A number of scouts clocked it at 4.19 handheld

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,317 ✭✭✭HigginsJ

Geno Smith runs a very good 4.56

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,395 ✭✭✭✭mikemac1

    Dennard Robinson with a 4.34

A lot were watching out for his 40 time

Why do scouts think they can do better with a stop watch and the human eye over a laser activated system :D

    Patterson runs a 4.37.

Bills are going to take him at #8 I reckon.

I think the positional drills (catching gauntlet) is mor important for him.

In my mind it's because the scouts reactions are humans, like other players reactions will be. So if you make your move someone takes a bit to react, a laser doesn't?

I'm stuck in the parents today so have **** internet, anybody impressing/being ****e so far today?

A lot of nippy slot receivers available with good speed.

Also it only seems now that some of the commentators are hyping up Terrance Williams despite him having an impressive season at BU. Teams looking for a vertical threat must be looking at him.

Belichick was very impressed with today's workouts.

Geno looked very relaxing doing the drills. Some of his deep balls felt like he wasn't fully slinging it. Manuel looked focused and definitely improved his stock. Mike Scott was interesting had a big arm for someone who barely looked arsed in his drop back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,317 ✭✭✭HigginsJ

He was asked "what's it like to win the superbowl?" and he was having trouble remembering!! :p

Did Sean Renfree from Duke throw. Mike Mayock was building him up Friday saying he had lovely touch on his pass.

Didn't notice or no one really pointed him out. They killed Nassib saying he has too much of a wind up. Tyler Bray/Wilson (can't remember think it was Wilson) has pretty bad feet when stepping into the throw.

Yep, but I wouldn't read a whole lot into it to be honest. While it's great to have rapid speed, what can these guys do while the ball is in the air? If they have no awareness the speed becomes a complete waste.

Very impressive speed by them nonetheless.

Been a poor few weeks for Wilson overall between the Senior Bowl and Combine. His hands measured in pretty small and he ran a slow 40. Thought he would go in the 1st round but can see him slipping a long way at this stage.

Knile Davis ran a 4.30 and is 227 pounds! Seen very little of him during the year so don't really know how good of a player he is but he is a beast!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,317 ✭✭✭HigginsJ

Some guy named Onterio Mcalleb ran a 4.21 40 (however simulcast of Marquis Goodwins 40 shows Goodwin winning)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

RB out of Auburn Onterio McCalebb ran a 4.21 (unofficial), which if it it stands would be faster then CJ2K's record of 4.24

Yea, so Margus Hunt pretty much just won the combine. At 6'8 and 277 lbs, he repped 225lbs 38 times (!) and ran the 40 in 4.60 (!!).

Was watching him in the field drills there he looks like a pure athlete. Dion Jordan also looks excellent
