dont know if this was posted before UCI Stakeholder consultation=

Lap the Lough posted this on facebook

If you hold a UCI license here's your chance (at last) to have you say on the future of the sport.
Takes about 20 mins but hopefully it's worth the effort.

Filled it out this morning. I surprised myself at the amount of giving out I did.

Me too but at least there was space for comments rather than all fixed questions and responses.

To be fair, does it show a willingness to accept that change is required? Lets hope it does and that they listen.

I'm glad they included that actually because you always worry that your position doesn't really come across just through ticking boxes. Aside from the obvious doping issue I spent a lot of time making comments on artificially elevating races on to the world tour calendar at the expense of more prestigious and challenging races and the promotion of women's cycling. I even found time for making a case for the re-introduction of the World Cup.

Ah that was nice saying all these things. I hope something gets out of it.

Mine went along the same lines and suggested that a sort of formula 1 type calendar and league of teams to take pressure off lower paid pros to compete and dope just to make a living in a constant round of 'village' races as Paul Kimmage outlined in his book. Not sure my suggestions would be a solution though.

Also said that pro teams should get more involved in the leisure and amateur calendar. For example all South African rugby pros must get involved in schools coaching as part of their contract. Keeping pro teams closer to the ground level would help keep an eye on doping maybe. Who knows but something needs to change

I suggested Pat McQuaid and H. Verbruggen must be removed from the UCI.

Life time bans to drug cheats and additional pecuniary and criminal sanctions where possible. No input from National Associations to decisions. No reduction in bans for assistance in identifying other cheats only possible reduction in pecuniary penalties.

Lifting of seemingly arbitary technical rules. e.g. No minimum bike weight limits, no aerodynamic limitations.

No race radios or means of remote communication between riders and team cars.

I didn't think of it at the time so didn't include it but a dedicated sanctioned gathering for "the hour" attempts would be cool.

Bumping this so more people can complete the survey. Doping and all is good to get out, but also something that it was said in another forum, remember how big of a role does UCI play in bicycle development and how limited the companies are to the designs because of the rules. Of course I wrote I want no weight limits for starters, but I kinda doubt they are going to hear me :D
