Quick question after being hit

So the missus was parked in dundrum shopping centre today.

Came back to the car and noticed someone had hit the drivers door and rear door on the car. Big enough tip and blue paint on it. She went to security and they had the details of the woman who did it (she left her details with them).
When the missus rang her she reckoned "she might have done it but couldn't be certain as she had the radio on:rolleyes:" She said she got out to look at the car but then wondered had the damage been there already!! Then she asked the missus could it have been the orange car that pulled into the space after (she obviously didn't take the space and moved to another one).

The missus has contacted her own insurance. The other woman rang my missus and told her to do nothing until she speaks to her husband!!

What's the story now? I want the car fixed by the audi garage we bought it in - not by some friend of a friend of her husbands. Can we insist on choosing the garage or do the insurance companies have the final say?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes you decide where you want to have the car fixed irrespective of where the liable party wants it done. I would go ahead and get a quote from the body shop of your choice for the work. If the other party disputes this then tell them that can deal with their insurance company then if they are not happy.

It is also worth checking with the shopping centre for CCTV footage if the other party has a change of heart around liability though leaving their details might contradict this.

Cheers.......i told her already to ask dundrum to confirm the car wasn't damaged on entering the car park (i had to do this myself before).
