Light bulb warning on dashboard

Last week, my 2009 Mini Cooper started displaying the light bulb warning on the dash. I have checked all the lights on the car and they are all working. I can't understand why I am getting the warning when all the lights are fine. How can I get the alert off my dashboard? Is there a way to re-set it?

Have you checked brake lights, fog lights, driving lights, full beams and indicators?

Check the rear number plate lights too.

It could be the center brake light; I found that particular light to be the one I used to forget to check.

    Yes, checked all of them.

This seems to be a common problem...

It worth upgrading the earth cable on the rear lamp cluster...A poor earth could cause this problem.

    Yes, checked all of them.

If you are familiar with how to use the cars on board computer then you can get it to tell you exactly what bulb is gone(or it thinks is gone)

I must get a good look tomorrow and see if I can discover anything. Thanks/

If you scroll through the menu until you get to 'check', press enter, which is the button on the end of the indicator stalk IIRC, it will display the light bulb symbol, when the light bulb symbol is on the little screen, press and hold the enter button for a few seconds and a CC ID code should be displayed which corresponds to the offending bulb.

List of codes below(there are lots)

This is brilliant, thank you. The code on the dash was 133. However when i look at the chart here, it states right tail light, then next to it says left tail light failed, so I don't actually know if the left or right one is faulty!

    Change both. :)

BTW: I had a problem couple of years ago with warning light as well. All bulbs were O.K.

But one of the connectors went slightly loose - light was up, with warning displayed anyway. Cleanup and tightening did the job. :)

Check the connections on the existing bulbs before you go changing them.

No harm to have a set of spare bulbs in the car anyway (one of each type of bulb, obviously - maybe have a full set of front headlight bulbs though).

OK folks just an update, one of the left tail light bulbs had gone out. I bought replacements, now I just have to figure out how to change them!

i found this very informative video, however this is an older model Mini and when I open the panel in my Mini, it looks completely different to this video.

Anyway, a bit thank you to everyone who replied to this thread. At least I have finally got to the bottom of it all!
