Requesting help for 1K PC build

5. Do you need a monitor? [probably, have a 19" 4:3 Xerox XA7 19a]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [24" widescreen minimium]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1280x1028] [Yes]

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? NO [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.]

Old PC was a Medion Md 8838 with upgraded PSU and GFX card. It has finally died after 4 years from main drive failure.

I am looking for help in building a new desktop unit to do heavy modelling and gaming. I am doing/ was doing contract work for a next gen game company when It died.
Would like to have Windows 7, well its seems better than win8.
A new monitor is likely needed as as mu 19" is 4:3 but only 1280x10124
not really sure if GFX needs replacing but its direct x 10 so a bit out.
A dual GPU is would be preferred
mother boards I know nothing about, but was recommended to get one with good multiple bus
the DVD burner should be good
have a front panel multi-card reader
GFX card was a GTX 295
PSU is XFX black edition 850watt

can you help me build a new pc, do you need more info?

It isn't really possible to include a monitor, windows and Dual GPU on that sort of budget. Instead of the HD7950 you could probably crossfire/sli two cheaper cards like HD7850s or GTX660s if you need two GPUs for development purposes.

This would be a decent AMD build roughly on budget. I am guessing that 16GB ram might be useful to you.

If you don't care for an SSD, you could drop it altogether and get an i5-3570 build.

The SSD drives these, are for boot drives?, how reliable are these?

I am willing to go over budget if it results in more durable/bettrer machine.

The SSD drive is for windows and all your smaller programs. It will make the machine much faster and more responsive. 60gb is loads for a windows drive + lot's of small programs and a few big ones. You could go to 120gb if you wanted to put more on it. The 120's are a bit faster anyway.

I included 2 graphics cards as you stated you wanted dual gpu. You could go for a single 7950 instead which would have more than enough performance for what you want. The 2 x 7850's will outperform it but you will have less upgrade options down the line.

Currently looking at a 30q5 monitor as want one that will last a long time resolution wise. would prefer a glass faced monitor like my current one.
still unsure on the 30" as some have said to wait for the boards they are made of to be updated.

I'll push the budget as I want something to last for a good while, raather than being fored to replace stuff as its obselete.

mothercoard and cpu was to ld to spend some cash on as it should "future proof" it.

more info/part recomendations I can get the better. Thanks for help so far.

I think I willl lay off the uber monitors for now and spend me cash on better parts suited for future work. Like a decent CPU and GPU for cuda rendering.
Was thinking of starting with a i7 3770k or similiar powered chip.
A nividia card is now required due to amds opencl not being supported, so good card or cards better than the GTX 295 is required. Also ideas on suitable motherboards as they seem confusing at times. Will go for a SSD pref 120gb ish so it has more space to dumpbroken bits in as the speed from boot really applels to me. I am guessing a Raid setup for backup is possible with these so I don't end up with another doorstop.
will start with core basics and work onwards, can spend more later. up it to 1.3-5K if nessary.
hoping you and others are still willing to help.

I'd replace the two 120 ssd's with 1 of these. It has much faster IOPS performance and a free copy of AC3.

The cooler doesn't look that big. It should fit into most midi and full towers. Not sure how it compares to the tried and trusted 212 evo but it seems to have good reviews. I think I'd prefer to be exhausting the air straight out the back rather than have it recirculating.

Have been looking for gtx 590 for cycles rendering, a pain to find and missed one locally.

I understand ati/amd cards are cheaper/powerful but they dont work with blender cycles to kinda limited to the GTX and more so to the 500 series due to hardware crippling on the 600 series.

blender 3d, unity, photoshop, genitica, It is to be my work pc for game making and playing as well.

I was thinking of the nanoxia deep silence 1 for a case as it seems high in reviews. silence is not a requirement but would be nice.
For the PSU I am unsure but belive a 700-750w is good requirement. what unit is a good quality one to get.

this a good enough card reader that works with what I have so far?
