Is there no pride left in the country any more? Why do people have to stoop to such level to ruin such a beautiful scenic area (damaging revenue from tourists), ruining a beautiful geological structure. SCUM

They said it was a part where no one goes to anyway and by the looks of it on the news it wont last too long as its being weathered away

Would they not have to stand up straight?

I think they'd have to stoop, stand and perhaps even lean.

    I like it.

    Nice juxtaposition.

The art itself is beautiful, but it does not belong on the Cliffs! A disgrace! It is a beautiful tourist attraction and for safety reasons they cannot clean it. I wouldn't blame them, I wouldn't want to be the one in a harness on the side of a cliff washing it off. Ground doesn't look too sturdy!

Why do some people do such stupid things?

I'm not sure the revenues of the Irish tourism industry were on my mind when I was 15 either.

    I quite like it actually.

Could it be a protest about the 0bnoxious rip off prices the Council charge to visit the area.

It's a disgrace. People have no respect these days.

The cliffs just run the art.

I loved the art, but of course, us Irish have to whinge about it. Nobody gives a **** about it until somebody spray paints it. Creativity is good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭juice1304

I like it and no tourist is going to see it if you have to walk for 15 minutes down a dangerous slippery trail with a 500 ft drop. at least it dose'nt say tomo waz ere etc..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,528 ✭✭✭✭dsmythy

The art is nice but the cliffs are much bigger and greater on their own.

Think it looks pretty cool. will weather away in no time anyway

have to admire the artists audacity. He was on a hiding to nothing, theres no way you can compete with the beauty of the cliffs overlooking the sea, as such he has spoiled a view, so he hasnt enhanced the view already there, neither has he made one that compares, he has just spoiled what was already there.

Yeah, that art was a beautiful representation of the Irish spirit.

That looks really cool! What's the problem? The rocks are still there too like

I think it's okay. I also think good graffiti in cities is okay, too. I wouldn't like this to be a start of the whole surface of the cliffs being painted, or even an area larger than has already been covered... But it's better than BOBBY WUZ ERE..... And it's pretty cool that someone got into the fairly risky position to paint it in the first place. If it hadn't been on the news, it would have effected no revenue, and even though it was on the news it will only effect the revenue of David Olsthoorn, the photographer.

No one is saying the art is bad, it's just that it is on the Cliffs of fúcking Moher. A huge international tourist attraction!!!! I would love if people did gorgeous art like that somewhere more appropriate. But everything has a place, and it is not on an attraction we, as a country, make a small fortune off!!!!

I understand that, but, it'll be weathered away anyway. It's already greatly weathered.

The scumbag should have to repay the lost revenue 10 fold.

    What lost revenue?

If anything the free publicity the cliffs have received will increase revenue.

It's grand like, I'm not amazed by it but I like it, sure. but so out of place sitting on one of our tourist attractions!

Takes some idiot to do that.

I actually really like it. I can't see anyone saying "lets go see the cliffs" "no, they have a 6x8 ft bit of graffiti" like, cmon  I'd also find it pretty cool to go see it and imagine someone working in such a precarious position. Free publicity too as said before. It's not like they ruined the whole thing or even a very visible part, I expected a huge "steo waz ere 2k13" or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,207 ✭✭✭The King of Moo

The art is ok if forgettable in itself, and it doesn't really affect the Cliffs of Moher themselves at all, but that little spot looked better without the graffiti.
It's hard to top such natural beauty. The graffiti would look better in an urban area.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,227 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

The place was already vandalised when they decided to build a telly-tubby compound next to the cliffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,674 ✭✭✭Peetrik

Way less of an eyesore than the mandatory fee 'visitors center' or car park marring the natural country side IMO.

Its not like he is selling millions of acres of woodland to pay the bond holders bankers etc.

Ah sure if you've seen one cliff you've seen them all. Why not gussy them up a bit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,459 ✭✭✭Chucken

To those of you who think its not 'so bad', would you be outraged if someone decided to use the Giants causeway as a colouring book?
Or if it was somewhere in another part of the world?....lets say, the Pyramids?

This wont just fade away in a while, it will take years! Its disgraceful.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,759 ✭✭✭✭dlofnep

Seems to be done far away from the tourist section. It's probably not even visible. I was expecting a huge graffiti painting, it's just a small mural in an obscure area - far from the eyes of the tourists. You'd swear he's a child rapist with some of the comments. Chill out. The rain and sea water will wear it down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,151 ✭✭✭kupus

Pure sh!te if thats art. The spanner who done this is only going to encourage other "artists" 5h1theads to go around defacing other places.

    tosser

Love the description of how big it is in the Examiner:

'The graffiti, measuring roughly three metres wide and two metres wide, was discovered on a remote section of cliff, close to Hags Head in Co Clare.'

If you're going to use the silly measurements get it right !
