My Fitness Pal & the likes - Calorie Counters

I have just registered an account on My Fitness Pal.

    It asks for your
    - weight 205lbs circa
    - height 6 2
    - age 29
    - how often a week you workout a week ...problem here is it doesntask what kind of exercise
    - how active is your job ..sedentary, desk jockey
    - what is your goal weight wise- ie I selected to gain .5lbs a week as it is the closest choice to the select drop down option list.

It then goes about generating suggested calories per day and breaks down the grms of Protein Carb & Fats for you.

I feel it does not however take in to consideration why you want to increase your weight, whether it be to put on some muscle or whatever. and also does not take in to consideration what type of exercise you do.

My main goal is to increase to about 220lbs carrying the most amount of muscle I can.

My Fitness Pals daily recommendations are to consume
    2710 calories per day
    373grm of carbs per day
    90grms of fat per day
    102grms of protein per day

You'll be glad to know after reading all the above waffle that Im finally getting to my point... I know the likes of My Fitness Plan is only a guide, however I feel that following that calorie amount and macro level especially for the protein, that I will not be sufficiently fuelled to build the required amount of muscle.

Any thoughts on a more accurate calorie counter for my goals?

Just use it for logging food. Don't pay any attention to the calorie suggestions.

You can change them by going into 'Goals'. You can also change around your macros.

Have you read the stickies? If you have, use them to work out how many calories you should be eating. If not, read the stickies and work them out.

Im a bit of a dumbass really.. as soon as I had submitted the thread I realised how stupid it was.... I may go off and calculate myself what I need to be consuming and then as you said just use My Fitness Pal as a log.

Thread could be closed now if not deleted altoghter.
