    Hi guys,

My friend and I have booked a week away to Playa del Ingles for next week. Any suggestions on where to go and where NOT to go. What would the typical holiday age group be around this time of year. We have our accommodation sorted and its cheap and basic. We are both in our mid twenties. Any advice on the region in general is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Average age group of other travellers is a bit older at this time of year. But there are still other young people travelling around and you will probably meet them in your accomodation or the bars. There is a centre called the Kasbah centre which has loads of bars. It's not very..classy but if you are easy going and have good company you should have some fun there. There is also a Yumbo centre - It would be mainly gay bars at night (shopping centre during the day for everyone). The beaches around there are gorgeous. Weather seems to be always good.

sands dunes at maspalomas are only a short walk from playa del ingles, only place in town to spend sunset imo

Palmitos Park is a few miles outside playa del ingles (bus number 45), the park has a lovely setting and is worth a few hours

if you have a car the drive from playa to puerto de mogan is worth the trip alone, if you don't have a car bus number 32 goes that route every 20mins

I've never stayed in that area, always went to Peurto Rico instead and it has been over 10 years.
I do recall the last time I went to Maspalamas beach, an African guy came up and started babbling as if looking for directions. I had no idea what he wanted. I was sitting minding the bags. When everyone came back, my Mother realised her bag was gone. The guy had distracted me while someone came up behind the dune and grabbed the bag.
So just be careful and remember that even an innocent encounter can be a distraction for thieves.
