Replacing chainring(s)

Hi, I need to change my chainrings soon as they are showing their age having transported this fatty around for a lot longer than what they were intended for but I am confused when it comes to selecting the right one.

What I do know is the bike I have is trek 1.2 2008/09 9 sp model with Its current setup a double 50/ 34, I cant see any visible brand but it might be FSA.

What I don't know is are all 5 bolt chain rings compatible? at the moment i am looking at a budget setup (cheap but not crap) considering it is only a training bike. I was having a look at these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=18512 but I am lost to know if they will fit. Or would I be even better off replacing the crankset with something like http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=90270 Any help would be appreciated.

They are not suitable because the bolt spacing is 130mm BCD and you have a 110mm BCD crank spider.
Search again for something including all of the following.
BCD = 110mm sometimes labeled as "Compact chainrings.
    9 speed.
If you are happy with your existing gearing go for rings with the same tooth count.

thanks, I have an idea now to what to look for. But I am wondering considering the cost of the individual rings would you think it would be better to go for a crank like above?

    Edit: there is a 110 here http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=92250

OK, and nice prices there too. But you now have introduced 3 new variables to consider which may or may not be important to you and may cost you.
    1. Crank length. 170<175
    2. Those chain sets are for square taper Bottom Bracket, so unless you have one already installed you can add at least another €20 for anything half decent.
    3. If you intend fitting BB and cranks yourself you will need appropriate crank and possibly 2 BB removal/installation tools. And a torque wrench.

All those chainsets are 53/39 and might not suit the type of cycling you do. You may need a longer chain to accomodate them and you might even end up changing the cassette to restore the gearing to something similar to what you were used to.

IMO If existing cranks and BB are OK I would just change the chainrings with the same tooth count. Tiagra 9sp is good quality and not too expensive.
