Vodafone special offer on S3 mini - worth it?

Just looking for some opinions here. Vodafone are selling the S3 mini PAYG for €229 if you change to their network (€249 otherwise). I'm with meteor at the minute and can't wait to get away from them. I have no intention of dropping 500+ lids for a phone or going on bill pay. I have a laptop and PC so don't need a top end…

I just want a half decent device to last for 1-2 years for the few apps that I use when out and about, mapmyrun and some light internet browsing.

Is this a good offer? I realise that most people on here are really into their phones and wouldn't dream of buying the S3 mini but would it be ok for what I want? If there are better offers for similar money I would be glad to hear it? Or better means of acquiring a phone other than the usual suppliers.
