Eyebrow Ring - Yay or Nay

    Hi everyone.

I'm debating about getting an eyebrow ring/bar. I know they are a bit out of fashion at the moment, but I think they still look cool enough.

I work in an office environment, and I know that it won't be a problem there.

I'm a 27 year old male, am I too old to have one of these now?

Could you please provide some honest advise as I have received mixed feedback from people who I have asked (my gf, my mum, my workmates).

    Thanks.

Should I get an eyebrow ring/bar? 19 votes

    Yes, go for it

Don't get one if you look like a scumbag.

    Do whatever you want.

I imagine some people might find you hard to take seriously, but if you don't mind that or think you can convince them otherwise, then reach for that rainbow.

Did you really just set up an account to ask people if you should get an eyebrow piercing

    :pac::pac::pac::pac::pac:

anyways.. don't. Not a good look imo.

They look ridiculous! At a push they look cool when the owner has other facial piercings.

I used to have a lot of piercings, some "interesting" ones, but I have always thought eyebrow piercings were hideous.

    Absolutely not ;)

they're fine, they can look great so go for it. to hell with the nay-sayers

    Wow, some quick responses.
I do like the 'surfy' look, and have my hair bleached already.

I wouldn't consider other piercings on my face though.

    Stupid,

If you ever get tired of it and want it removed, you are left with a visible scar for life.

Please don't . if you missed out on getting one in the early 90's so be it but just forget about it now....

Get one of those nose studs OP - the ones that the wearer thinks are cool but everyone else actually thinks looks like a pimple.
    Definitely get one of those.

Just to make this decision easier, I added a poll, could you please vote in that.

At the moment it's not looking favourable... :(

When I was a teenager I was considering getting a lip ring. I went to some shop like Claire's Accessories and bought a fake one. I put that on at home and thought to myself "wow, that looks truly awful and ridiculous, what was I thinking?".

Give that a go, if you still like the idea of it, then go for it. People will think what they think (although you should probably pay attention to what your girlfriend says). You can take it out later if it's not working for you.

If you don't know if you want one

    You don't want one

Had it done in my early college years

Pain in the hole. Can't play sports, hurts, always getting a wallop and you need a bar for a few months before you can contemplate a ring.

Also, scar gets fairly ugly after a few years.

    Avoid.

It's the standard opt out option on boards.

They were way cool in the early noughies, coincidentally when I had one.

Now however, in this day and age, they are the facial distinction of a idiot man.

If you really wanted it, you probably wouldn't be looking for online approval for it.

I don't think they look good on anyone, but if you do want it then just do it. I hope you're not left with a scar if you change your mind.

The OP's probably pretending to never have heard of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 Mollusc

    I haven't heard of it.

If I knew, I would have put the option there.

This is giving me a visual of the 'general publics' reaction, so it's giving me something to think about.

They suit some faces. It's up to yourself though OP, it's your body! If you think you can pull it off then go for it. You can always take it out.

That's what I did, I had a small ring (looked like a sleeper) in my eyebrow when I was younger, took it out after three months. No scar.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 Mollusc

So all of you who have had one of these have now taken them out, (besides 1 - labaret).

Is it the age thing, or that I'm a guy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,737 ✭✭✭✭kylith

    1) You're not 17
    2) It's not 1996
    3) Is 27 not a bit young for a mid-life crisis?
    4) Don't get an eyebrow ring, just accept that you're now too old to do all that stupid stuff, and you should have done it when you were 17.

    I'd imagine it's a personal choice thing.

    Get one of those things.

Got it done twice about 15 years ago. Looked good, except that my body rejected it. That is, the amount of skin between the two holes got progressively smaller until it just popped off and left a little rut in my eyebrow when the two holes joined up. That healed up, and unperturbed I did it again. And the same thing happened again within six months. So I gave up. The legacy is now a 3mm gap in my left eyebrow. Which you wouldn't even notice. Plus I can do a comb-over.

I think they're not just a little out of fashion at this stage, I think they're well out. Don't see anyone with them now unless they have a few other facial piercings.

No it doesn't unless you are stupid enough to get it done with a piercing gun.

If you are getting it done go to a tatto place that uses the neddles. They can put the ring straight in and it won't grow out if is put in correctly in this manner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,184 ✭✭✭3ndahalfof6

If your able to shiite out of it once it is done then I would go for it, it would put a new spin on, ffs he is just bullshiiting now.

Most people who wear them are nobs so if you want to look like a nob then go right ahead.

no, they went out with the 90's

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,635 ✭✭✭Pumpkinseeds

No, I'm female and I had 1 in the 90's. I got bored with it very quickly. They hurt, they need cleaning and they can break the skin leaving a scar. I ended up taking mine out after 6 weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,148 ✭✭✭MickFleetwood

Don't listen to anybody on here. **** it. If you want that ring, get that ring.

Us mortals can't speak for you.

And now the cost of makeup to fix it, we are perfect in appearance, no need to up it, but then we were young once, to tell me no is to tell me yes.

Had it done about 10 years ago, the skin between the two holes shrunk and eventually fell off! Have a lovely scar on my left eyebrow as a reminder now.

    Don't do it op!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,963 ✭✭✭Meangadh

A friend of mine had one a few years ago, I totally forgot that he did till there was an old photo on facebook recently of him- he definitely looks better without it. Wouldn't bother OP.
