Renault Megane Electric Windows

    That old chestnut!

Passenger side front and rear only. It started off that the passenger side would randomly stop working. Occasionally it would stop, after I had put the window down part of the way/completely, and 2/3 times this happened while it was raining, and the seat got wet. Not that it goes down but not up, more so just stops altogether.

The strange thing is I've opened it up and when in my hand, the motor opens and closes no issues, but when I mount everything back, it stops again. Very frustrating. I've disconnected the door handle control so it stays up, because its sticking all the time. I'd try fix it myself but haven't the time.

    tl;dr
I'm based in leixlip, and looking for somewhere (garage or hobbiest) that can get electric window motors trouble shot/fixed/replaced.

I assume your car is 03 -07 ish, I'd contact Renault Irl or a main Renault dealer first, they were still sorting these either partially or fully as a goodwill gesture up until reasonably recently after Eddie Hobbs highlighted the issue on his tv program a few years back

Had this problem myself a few years back with a 2005 Megane. Windows would come down at random times and then not come back up.

One time I parked it in Liffey Valley to come back to it with 2 windows all the way down. Turned out to be the window regulators. Cost over €1000 to get it sorted by Renault. It was a company car thank god so I didnt have to pay.

I've PM'd you OP with the number of a chap of can fix these for a fraction of the price Renault charge.

Just be careful about using spurios parts, I've got new regs of ebay and fitted them, they didn't last long, the problem here a lot of the time is caused by water ingress, have heard that wrapping the motor with clingfilm helps

Often the problem is actually a broken plastic piece, not the regulator, this guy knows he's stuff and repaired 3 non working windows in the friends Megane for peanuts.

Main dealer prices are crazy its been a rip off for years. Hobs followed up with megan but it was across the full renault range. you can buy a complete window reg from ebay at a fraction of the price. Not that difficult to fit. Also when replacing there is learn mode so the window has to known when fully up. if I remember correctly when window is up fully you hold the up button for 5 sec.
I had problems with laguna windows. Started like yours did not fully going up then it failed. Breaking little plastic roller the wire goes around. These plastic rollers can be bought separate now.

As naughty smurf has mentioned Renault are covering most of the cost of these under good will. If you are in Leixlip the nearest dealer to you would be Joe Mallon in Naas or Renault Belgard Rd.

The problem sounds like moisture in the black window control module made by Temic that sits on top of the motor.

There are a number of repair solutions advertised on the web that involve stripping the circuit board and soldering in a few capacitors, etc but I chose the simplest approach first and it worked for me.

What I done was removed the module from the motor (it's secured by a single torx screw), sprayed the inside of the module with WD40, sloshed it around a bit to coat all the bits and refitted. I then put a freezer bag down over the motor to form a hood to keep further moisture off. I left the bottom open to drain any condensation and allow ventilation against moisture. Worked a treat :D.

I ended up using this guy and he did a great job. He had to replace the mechanism in the front, but it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Great service, and a really sound bloke.

The problem with the Megane regulators is that even when you get them fixed they fault still remains and will reoccur. Most of the issues are electrical with water ingress from the window dripping down on to the electric connections and shorting the regulator.

Have 3 windows in a 2005 Renault Megane 4 dr saloon not working.

Rang Renault Athlone. Said they would do the repair for €115 each. (Normal price €440).

Also have problem with indicators flashing quickly. Seems to be a problem with the rear bulb holders.

They do not sell the holder seperately. €90 + Vat for the complete unit.
Any one know how to fix this ?

Try the chap mentioned, no doubt cheaper than Renault.

A beakers yard for the bulb holder.

Had three windows resolved back in 2011 in Liffey Valley Renault. Renault covered 100% of the cost.
My 4th window haw now gone and Renault Ireland are saying they will only cover 76% of the cost.
Liffey Valley Renault (Bill Cullen) has gone out of business so I have no way to prove they covered 100% the last time.
