Does anyone know, is there a microwave that students can use to heat up stuff they bring for lunch?
    I'm in Aungier street.

I don't think there is one anywhere around in Aungier Street anyway.

Its a great idea all right, a friend of mine is across the road in RCSI and they have microwaves for students in their library

I always thought it was a great idea

I always wished there had been one but alas there was none to be found in any DIT. In the college in Spain I studied in they had a room with about 12 microwaves and a bunch of desks to eat at. All colleges should have it

I was wondering about this earlier in the year. Perhaps it's for insurance reasons or else the people that run the canteen may block the idea?

There's so much tasty stuff I could bring in if there was a microwave available.

Perhaps it would be a usefull service for the student union to push for!

We were told during orientation in Cathal Brugha street that the SU's used to have them but some one set one of them on fire so they had to be gotten rid of or something.

There's a deal with the caterers running the restaurant which means the college bans kettles. I assume it's the same for microwaves.

I'm told there was once a time in Ireland when college canteens were competitive enough that nobody bothered with packed lunches. Sigh.

I take it you want a small one. I saw the very thing in Lidl or Aldi last week ( Aldi, I think. ) If you get in there fast there may be one left.

There's one in Mountjoy Square, it's in the SU shop and you have to give your food to the shop assistant. Maybe they could do the same elsewhere...
