Why you chose to modify you car

Would someone mind educating me on why it is that you like to modify you car with lour exhausts; tinted windows; changing alloys ... ?

Basicly, just looking for an insight in to why you carry out your modifications if someone would like to reply. I am sure everyone would have their own reasons for:interest, hobby, work ...

Just a curiosity thread tbh! :)

    Thanks in advance,
    kerry4sam

Because the owner thinks that the car looks better/sounds better/is faster than it was without the modifications.

It's a personal thing, like you wouldn't live in a house with all plain walls, you put up pictures and the likes.

Basically an extension of the owners personality, at least that's what it is IMO :)

    Yep, would agree totally.

Personally I modified mine initially to personalise it - Just new interior lights
Then I moved onto power modifactions as I felt like the most wasn't being made from the potential of the engine.
eg I fitted a larger intercooler as the standard one was quite small and you'd notice a drop in power on warm days (not a huge issue here I must admit :p)
I did add a louder exhaust for power and better exhaust gases flow, however it sounds amazing (imo :D) but not overly loud when tipping about.
Then, due to upgrading the power I put on some better brake pads to cope with the extra power better.
After that I added some small suspension modifactions to improve handling.

Some people are big into sports, some big into Home improvements, some into knitting....

I'm into my cars, It's all a big hobby to me, and I really enjoy it.

Last car was because i was looking for something to start doing trackdays with and a trip to the ring.

I managed the trackday bit. Never managed to get to the ring.

The supercharger was because I got one cheap ish and wanted to learn how to map a car. Wasn't having much luck finding an insurer that would cover that one.

As for tinted windows, car came factory tinted, alloys i was on the hunt for a more track suited wheel size.

Would i do it again? Yes but on a car i didn't buy from a dodgy dealer and id fit a better alarm....

Because most of us can only afford cars that are inherently sh!te! So we are forced to spend money to make them better.

Sometimes to follow a particular theme
    One was for functionality
And mostly for taking the piss

Mostly because I can and stick my 2 fingers up at anyone who says I can't. Usually done on impulse, I guess like my personality!

    A shameless before and after

I'd rather rice than Schnitzel but I'll take it on the chin, especially because my car is ****e. :p

Myself, I just like stickers, needed new wheels and have a huge obsession with the Japanese modified car world.
Not sinking a lot of money into engine mods for this but I got a good deal on my wheels and I have lowering springs to put in... Some time.

It's for me and me alone, I love my car and I love that there's not another just like mine. :)

i enjoy putting my own touch on my cars and making them my own, i started at it about 12 years ago and never stopped, i tried to stop about 2 years ago i swapped my eg6 civic for a standard never touched Subaru impreza WRX wagon when i found out we where expecting our 1st child so i said grand this will do loads of room but it still meets my needs power and performance wise

this didn't last long within 2 months i had her stripped resprayed and a nice lip kit add and a set of new alloys, and when word got out of the work i did i had great interest form other people that lead me and a very good mate of mine set up our own business doing crash repairs, spraying and body modifications and to this day the work keeps rolling in and we have at any given time a 2 -3 month waiting list ;)

Because cars are far more than a boring piece of machinery to get from one place to another, because its the most powerful enjoyable thing that most of us will ever own, because I like to be different, because I like to take things apart and put them back together, because I like to surprise others and myself, because I like speed, because I like going sideways, because 300bhp and **** brakes is not fun, because modified parts are cheaper than oem, because I cant afford Eleanor, because new cars are boring (not all), because life is boring, because I want to, because I can.

    :-)
