    STG£550.

You seem very precise with your answer, any recommendations on where this can be done?

Get a vinyl wrap done. You can always peel it off if you don't like it and it won't affect resale.

I'd say you have to supply the vehicle completely stripped down ready for paint.

    From £550 :-)

Cant see it paying someone to do it properly for that money.by properly I mean what id expect for my own car. All trim off , bare metal respray and no evidence (ie half the engine bay still being the original colour)

You won't get a proper in oven respray for that money, the door jams and engine bay aren't likely to by done either for that money or windows/windscreen removed.

There was a similar thread on here a while back(I can't find it myself), but basically a boardsie got a full external respray for not much more than €1000.

They posted up pictures of the job and it looked kosher.I think it was an MR2 and the lads that did it were Eastern European based near either Walkinstown or the Red Cow.

Maybe somebody else here will remember and post a link?

Plastidip it, shouldn't cost more than 2-300 and a few hours of your time

I'd say it's because you consistently post nonsense whereas Johnboy actually knows what he is talking about :pac:

Johnboy points people to the most useless kias and other junk dealers are delighted to get rid off and brutal resale....he's one of those mechanics that cost more money than save..fyi there's no trouble getting a car sprayed for a grand..
His advice would be laughed at by anyone seriously into cars..know it all springs to mind

I know there is no bother getting a car resprayed for a grand. However you don't get a good job done for that price. If you want a really good job done it will cost a lot more. That is what Johnboy was pointing out.

Sorry if I came across as to be putting down your advise. That genuinely wasn't my aim.

Many people on here love their cars and only want the best quality work carried out on them. My aim was only to try an advise the op that usually 1k resprays are not of the best quality and usually don't involve all areas of the car being resprayed.

As for me advising people to by Kias and Hyundais, In these cases reliable and hassle free motoring was the main reason I recommended these cars. Resale value really wasn't a reason for my recommendations.

Again I apologies If I annoyed you, but at the end of the day im genuinly only trying to give the best advice I can.

Ok johnboy I apologize for snapping, but I have seen cars sprayed to a good standard for around a grand which did include sills boot lining etc..no trim or windows were removed bar the doors..
I do understand there was little info in op as to the extent of work or a rough budget..
Everyones post is valid, prices differ depending on the body shop and what is needed..
There's a place near my houes that does insurance work that 2k probably wouldn't get a set of alloys sprayed but there are loads of small independent body shops that do a spot on job..
In saying that iv seen disaster jobs at high prices.

I asked a good friend of mine, how much to respray my car including a couple of small dents. 2k for a proper job, and thats to spray it in the same colour.
(my car has some, ahem, paint issues)

While he is not the cheapest around I know he does very good work.

That might give you some indication op.

Found the thread I was talking about- it was the respray of an FTO not a MR2!

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=76761669

    Am sure goz83 posted pictures of the finished product here on Boards, but can't find them, so here's some pictures of the car in question from his thread on another forum;
