    Hey Guys ,

After weeks/months of reading I can honestly say I have learnt so much from this section on Boards.

I want to tell ye my situation at the moment in reguards to weight loss and getting fit and healthy and get some more advice from ye.

Im currently just under 15stone (just over 200 pounds) , Height 5'2 , maybe 5'3. I would love to lose anything between 3 - 5 stone.

I have recently joined the gym and have been going every 2nd or 3rd day. My programme is warm up on the bike , weights , cross trainer and Threadmill. There is also a pool in the gym that I can avail of but havent yet. Im really enjoying going , alot more then I thought!

My eating habbits are extremely bad but have improved in recent weeks but im just not sure am I eating too much/eating enough/at the right time ect and this is where I want help and advice.

I work evenings 1.30 - 10pm so I go to the Gym in the morning.

    Typical day would be
Breakfast 9am ; Bowl of special k OR 3 eggs whites and 2 turkey rashers OR fruit and a yogurt

Mid morning snack 12.30 ; Apple OR yogurt

Lunch 3.30 ; Soup and 2 slices of McCrambridge bread and a laughing cow OR pasta (Processed pasta shells and Cabonara sauce)

Snack 6 ; Rice cake OR babybel

I drink about 5 or 6 bottles of water a day but would also drink 4 to 5 cups of coffee

My Calorie intake being between 700 - 900 a day. I understand I will need to up this and still maintain my goal weight once I reach it but to lose weight I have it down to this for the moment

To be honest with the hours I work and my dislike for alot of foods and only having a microwave at work I dont normally have a dinner. I sometimes swap the last snack and Lunch around and have my soup or pasta later at 6.

So my Questions being and Sorry for the long post!

Should I take some sort of Protein as a dinner meal replacement?

If I do take Protein , should this be before the gym or does it matter?

Is there any yogurts out there low in Calories and have little sugar and fat , I cant seem to find them? (I dont like lumpy yogurts)

What can I do to improve my weight loss/getting fit and healthy journey?

I hear people talking about snacking on nuts, any I look at are high in calories? What one are good for you?

Any help and or advice is greatly recieved!

    Thank you! :)

Read this on mixed nuts. Lots of good nutrients. Maybe look into eating fruit and vegetables if you can stomach it. Also look up HIIT for cross trainer, actually can be done easily if not pre programmed if buttons on the side handles. Also more gym time needed. Every 3rd day?
Also replace coffee with green tea, helps with weight loss.

You need to increase your calories.

700-900 is EXTREMELY low. It's not sustainable. Don't look at this as a diet. Look at it as a lifestyle change.

Your diet is pretty bad and needs improving. There is little to no protein. I know you are asking about shakes but I'd try get protein from real food sources and then use shakes if you can't reach your target. 1g of protein per lb of body weight is a good goal to go for. You should aim to have a protein and fat source with every meal.

At 200lbs you should be eating 2000+ calories a day. Your body needs fuel to function. I know you said you are eating low calories to lose weight but as soon as you start eating 'properly' again you will put the weight back on again so try get out of that habit and start eating how you mean to go on.

Lets go through your current diet.

Special K is sugary sh!te. Stop eating it. Eat eggs, including the yolks. There's healthy fats in the yolks. Fruit and a yogurt wouldn't be that great as they don't really fill you up.

If you feel the need for a snack and want it to be a yogurt, go for a full fat one. Preferably unflavoured. The low fat flavoured ones tend to have a stupid amount of sugar in them.

Is this homemade soup? If it's not, swap it for homemade soup. It's easy enough to make and you'll find some great recipes online.

Since you said you eat turkey rashers for breakfast I assume you aren't a vegetarian. Have a turkey/chicken salad for lunch with spinach, rocket, peppers, avocado, tomato etc.

You probably wouldn't need these snacks if you had a more substantial lunch.

If you aren't eating dinner start eating it. Fish/chicken/steak and lots of veg.

Thank you for your reply. That info on nuts is helpful.

It is not homemade soup I eat but I will start doing this , thanks.

I do understand this is a lifestyle change and not a diet but I feel at the moment while I have this weight to lose I need to be a bit more careful with how many calories I am consuming.

The reason I snack is I have been told by alot of people and read its better to eat little and often.

A full fat yogurt is better than a low fat one with sugar?

Salad is a problem , I would love if I liked it but I dont like any of the items you mentioned to put into a salad. I would only like rocket and chicken/turkey from that list.

I get home at 10.45pm and I find this is very late to be making dinner and im usually too tired so its just shower and bed really.

Thanks for both replys , they have helped.
