Hi I am in college studying engineering and need a reliable laptop, something with a bit of power also due to being a fond gamer. I'm looking for a powerful Laptop that will last. €700-750 price range.

There's a laptops forum that way
    > here.

If you're going to be walking around college a lot, I suggest no larger than 13.3'' for the screen, definitely no bigger than 14''. Unless you're a big person. It's a lot of weight to be dragging across campus all day.
Unfortunately, this is at odds with power - especially gaming.

    Some good machines here.

Prices are in pounds sterling, so watch your budget as it can climb fast. The 11.6" Inferno would be ideal for travels. It has a 2GB GeForce™ GT 650M, which is damn good for a laptop that size. Remember that graphics card is the most important thing for games. When you get to that size though, it can be a little awkward for intensive work, so if it is going to be your main machine, you might need something bulkier.

    Good luck with the purchase.

Dude, I really appreciate the help, I'm looking for this to be my main machine and I have no problem with size! I can lug a 10 tonne unicorn around college as long as it performs to a good level I will be happy with it. I am interested in a good gaming and practical work laptop eg solid works etc. Solid state hard drive too would be nice.

In that case, I'd consider the genesis 4 or the enigma. The genesis would be better, but by the time you add on a few extras, you'll probably find that the price has sailed over budget.

The i3s and i5s are dual cores and the i5s feature turbo so performance might be a little better in some cases. I'd avoid the old low range pentiums. The i7s are expensive, so you'd be better with your money elsewhere.

8GB of RAM is fine as it'll save you from upgrading. Bear in mind that it should really be not much dearer than €40 from the minimum as you can buy 8GB from memoryc.ie for that price.

The handy thing about this website is that you can save money by removing Windows. If you can get discounted windows from your college, you can save some here.
