My GP White S2000

iv always fancied s2000 especially in their grand prix form with red seats.its seem like a natural progression from they type r taditional heritage.
around four years ago i spotted a s2000 on honda tech ,white but this time not just the seats were red ,the whole interior dash, all door cards center console were bright viberant red.its was known as the full red interior (surprisingly),but it was rare and cost a premium in the states.

After further research i found out it only the U.S. got the full red/white combo option from the factory and only in the 2002 - 05 model year.

europe and even japan only gave the full red interior with silverstone grey and berlina black and again only 2002+ models.

so that left me with a choice of buying a black/grey car with red interior and respray it.

or buy a gp white car and go looking for the ultra rare interior elsewhere.
    i chose the former.

so on the 11.11.11 i purchased a Berlina black 65,000 mile, bog standard irish s2000 with a full service history and a personal s2000 reg which was nice!!
i bought it from cameron cars in dublin,i was happy to pay slightly above the odds for the blank canvas i wanted.

    S2000PHOTOSHOOT014.jpg

    then the spending started!!

i bought the 18"BBS Lm reps derekm was selling.i think they really suited his s2000

    18 x 8.5 front
18x9.5 the staggered fittment needed for s2000

    tradein005.jpg

put in a brand new honda timing chain tentioner (TCT) just in case

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Well done, that is serious dedication, and a serious car. I personally would have preferred it in black, but that paintjob looks perfection. Can I ask the ballpark figure for the full colour change?

We need more of these threads on Boards.

since the pics iv been back to the garage for airwalker side skirts,a front lip and a hard top (must get the pics up)
id have a little change out of 2k,but its a proper paint job, engine bay is still black but its a neutral colour so iam not bothered.Top expensive and messy to remove it.

Lovely car, would love to own one of these one day,did you ever think about leaving the side badges off after the re spray? Looks well.

Good to see people putting up progress/build threads about their cars - not enough of that on here.

gambithh this looks fantastic. I also think it looks super in white, was never a fan of black, the black looks dull and boring IMO. Anyway, it's coming along great and keep up the great work. :)

I'd hardly call the black dull and boring  Any I've seen have been smashing cars.

@gambith, that's a beautiful car. The white looks the dawgs! Love the red H badges too, looks very Type R S2000! Thanks for the thread! :)

I don't want to drag this OT. But different people like different things. That's just my taste in the S2000. But Black is alright on other cars. :)

    thanks for the comments

i left the wings with out the badges for a few days, but with the sheer lenght of those wings it makes the side profile of the s2k very bare looking.

i think different cars look better in certain colours
for example i went out of my way to buy a black uk twin cam this summer which i also love,my fave colour on them (dont like white twin cams at all)

but i will say white is by far the easiest colour to keep clean and black is perhaps the hardest.

A full year since i update this the car is pretty much finished now. Here is the best of the updates.
Picked up a genuine set of airwalker skirts and ap1 lip.
    GGLUPDATE002.jpg
    GGLUPDATE001.jpg
lip is currently for sale :D
as we left it in japfest last summer
    kimsweding016.jpg
replica bbs lms were always a stop gap while i searched for something more genuine.
With my dc2 in winter slumber i drove for some time on its borrowed TE37s
    kimsweding052.jpg
however although beautiful the 16s were a little lost under the arches
    kimsweding050.jpg
I eventually found a set of genuine BBS LMs.Specs were 8x8 front and 8x9 rear et 35 all around which was tipping the max for standard s2000 arches so i had them professionally rolled by Kruizer on here who did a super job.
225/45/17 and 204/45/17s slightly streched bridgestone potenza Re50 and uniroyal rainsport 2s were the tyre of choice.
    GGLUPDATE038.jpg
The wheels came off a drift car and although straight were in a pretty poor condition
    kimsweding002.jpg
So i got them split and custom polished.Came out pretty snazzy
    IMG_0019.jpg
    IMG_0043.jpg
    New BBS valve stems
    20000000000000004.jpg

Picked up an oem hardtop, fitting kit and a genuine honda hard top stand
    dromoland001_zps8812ba59.jpg
    big transformation in the car
    DSC00918_zps9961687f.jpg

    DSC00782_zps09719ef0.jpg
Next came the small niggly jobs.
I replaced a sticky caliper with a refurbished pair

Shinetsued greased up the seals to prevent a leaky roof
    GGLUPDATE004.jpg
found out the start button should stay lit and never did in mine, had a few other annoying dash bulbs not lightinging so i changed the lot.
Had to lower the steering colume to get at them
    Pattaya2013010_zpsb80d7ee9.jpg
    out with the old
    Pattaya2013011_zpsbaffc8ea.jpg
    in with the new
    dromoland069_zps0cf3540d.jpg
decied to rust proof the car.got the full dintrol kit off cleancar.ie
    Pattaya2013020_zpsff65bb9a.jpg
up on axle stands and the dirt work began.
    Pattaya2013021_zps875576db.jpg
    Pattaya2013019_zps2fe41a85.jpg

    Pattaya2013022_zpsc521e376.jpg
dropped her another 20mm in the front.
gave it an oil change before its nct last month, passed bar the jap plates (they passed them at the same center 12 months previous)
