It could be that the filters are blocked up and not leaving the fuel flow to the injectors have you checked them ? if you carefully open the pipe leading from the tank to the filter (or the priming pump might be easier to get at if a loader is fitted )and fuel flows then its these filters that are the problem and needs changing if no fuel flows its the filter in the fuel tank that causing the problem, you have to disconnect the pipe on the tap under the fuel tank if no fuel flows you could try blowing some air back the pipe using a bicycle pump or a foot pump this may clear the dirt allowing the fuel to flow if not then unscrew the tap this filter then comes off with the tap you need a couple of large buckets to catch the fuel when you unscrew the tap this filter is plastic and may be cleaned but it would be better to replace it they are only a couple of euro.

Check that the stop control arm is working and that the shaft into the injector pump that the stop arm is on is rotating as it should
assuming there is a real good squirt of diesel from the 2 bleed screws on the pump it should then go with 1 injector pipe nut loose ,dont get that spray on your skin its not good.
if you have good flow after filters but not out of pump there is a small tube shape filter under the big nut where the diesel goes into the injector pump it sometimes gets dirty if the filters got very bad but be careful there are also some small valves in there too
i hope this gete her going

i found the problem the pump's insides had jamed up so i hit it with a hammer and away it went ya cant beat simplicity
. thats all that was wrong with it after changed fuel filters glow plugs bled it 100's of time all i had to do was hit it with a hammer

Hi I have a problem with my tractor that it will not start. The problem begin was that the injection pump was leaking from the part which the foot paddle attached to the pump. I remove the injection pump and take it to a local MF dealer to replace the o ring, after that I re installed back on the tractor and start, but it will not start, then I check all the fuel line and breed about 10 times but it still not start. I do have a lot of diesel in the injection pump, but nothing come out going to the injector line. I have worked on this tractor for two days and I'm very frustrated now, what can I do next to get this tractor going again.
Thanks in advance for your advise. Leedx

Quite a different beast but if our DB996 gets badly airlocked the only way to start is a pull start, bleeding and pumping, it would just flatten battery after battery..
Tow it and it starts on about two lengths of itself !!

to bleed the 996 open one injector at a time and crank until you get air free fuel then open number 1 again and she should fire

no ex of the the 165 but same might apply , don't think they were as difficult to bleed though so op might have an issue somewhere

We've ha a few DB and bled tem every which way, including te above and what is recommended on the DB website. But when they've ran out f diesel or filters changed they are a bitch, a pull start is the way to start them, why toast the battery and starter trying. Even on te DB club website it's recognised as the way to start them.

I have checked the pump by remove the little window on side of the pump and crank the motor the part in side is turning as the engine turn.

Sometimes you get an airlock that defies explanation, and you can't seem to shift. Sometimes the only way to get it going, on your own, is to use a can of easy-start. Use it sparingly, and keep giving tiny squirts to keep the engine running, and be careful you don't get run across. Leave one injector pipe loose at the injector when your doing this, and she should clear herself.

Is there not a very fine gauze filter on top of the fuel feed pump on those?
    Two minutes to clean.
If gauze filter in the fuel tank same symptoms.

well for starters you need 2 to tow, & IMO if you have to tow to start something is not right

there should be no need to toast a battery,if you know what your're doing
I had 995's and 1 996 for years and never ever towed
when did you last check the diaphragm in the lift pump and clean all the gauze filters?

they are so misers on fuel that they continue to work with dirt or other problems , a more modern machine wouldn't pull a sausage
