I have to replace a hard-drive in an Acer extensa 5230e. The damaged hard drive was a WD1600BEVT. I ordered one of Ebay, but what arrived to day was a WD1600BPVT. im trying to find somewhere on-line to see if they are compatible. I have emailed Western Digital, but might be tomorrow before I get a reply so was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of these drives

Can't see why it wouldn't work.

No harm in popping it in and seeing. There was no need to buy the exact same model drive, so long as it was a 2.5" SATA, that is the same thickness as the original and you're away.

They are compatible, the only difference: BEVT drives use old standard with 512 byte blocks, BPVT drives use the advanced format with 4k blocks.
