Ex tea coffee addict, should I. Keep off it?

I was a very heavy user of tea and coffee up until two weeks ago.

I used to have average 5/6 mugs of tea and 2/3 mugs coffee daily.

Two weeks ago I started a detox and I had to stay off all tea coffee for one week.

I am now finishing my 2nd week and I haven't gone back on the tea or coffee as I don't want to get hooked again. I now drink caffeine free green tea and I enjoy that but sometimes I long for a nice cup of real tea usually when I see my partner making hers.

Looking for advice would I be better off now to keep off it for good as I have kicked the habit and I have gotten over the ferocious headaches from withdrawal that lasted three days?

How do you feel on it?

If you feel better without it then maybe that's the way to go but if there is no real difference then I don't see the problem in having 2-3 coffees a day and some tea. If you just drink it because you enjoy it rather than because you actually have physiological cravings for caffeine then it's not an addiction!

    Plus, coffee is awesome!

I think it's a good idea to cycle off caffeine from time to time anyway. When you have been using it regularly you tend to not notice any real benefits other than returning to "baseline" with your morning cup. Taking a break and going back tends to increase the effect as your body has had time to re-adjust to not having caffeine.

I went off it for 3 or 4 weeks over the Christmas period and found I was just as alert without it (after getting over all the headaches etc). I guess it depends on whether or not you enjoy it as an actual beverage. Coffee also has some other benefits like anti oxidations.

What do you mean by caffeine free green tea btw? Regular green tea is not caffeine free although it does have far less caffeine than coffee. I drink the stuff regularly!

Caffeine free tea I'm drinking is "twinnings camomile naturally caffeine free" as stated on front of box.

Ah that's not green tea then. Green tea is made from the same plant as black tea like Barry's etc but is processed in a different way. A camomile infusion would indeed be caffeine free. Does it not make you sleepy? One of the uses of camomile is to help with sleep.

Not sleepy but it relaxes me: )

I do love nice real reasons adore nice coffee.

I think life's too short I will probably go backbiting try keeping it to before nighttime as I am sleeping a lot better since I cut it out.

I don't drink black tea or coffee at all anymore because I've become 'addicted' to green tea. I use two tea bags per cup and have it with milk (soya milk in my case) so it's more like a 'real' cup of tea. Worth a try anyway, I love the stuff.
