Good news for a change :)
From the ISSF website (by permission):
Shooting listed as Olympic core sport for 2020 Games

The IOC Executive Board agreed today on the 25 sports it will propose to the 125th IOC Session for approval as the core sports for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

    ...

“Shooting remains a core sport world wide, as well as one of the most universal disciplines. The ISSF represents 161 National Federations, and athletes from 108 countries qualified to compete in shooting at the 2012 Games; shooting ranked fourth among all Olympic sports in this principal measure of universality.” Secretary General Schreiber reminded.

“Shooting competitions have been staged since the very first edition of the modern Olympic Games, and the same father of the Games, Pierre de Coubertin, was a Pistol shooter. We are part of this tradition, and we will keep on supporting the IOC, as we have always been doing.” Secretary General Schreiber concluded.

    ...

The 25 core sports which were listed today by the IOC Executive Board are: shooting, athletics, rowing, badminton, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, equestrian, fencing, football, gymnastics, weightlifting, handball, hockey, judo, swimming, modern pentathlon, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery, triathlon, sailing and volleyball.
    ...

And congrats to the Modern Pentathlon folks as well, there were really depressing rumours circulating that they'd be dropped from the Games after Rio, but those have been happily squashed now!

Let's hope that ALL the Olympic shooting sports enjoyed by other nations can be equally enjoyed by Irish shooting teams.

Er, tac, we already can shoot in all the Olympic shooting sports.
There is one ISSF event we're stuck on (25m centerfire pistol), but that's not been in the Games since 1972...

We're good on all the Olympic stuff anyway tac. May not have the ranges/infrastructure/competitive circuit, but there's no legislative issue to prevent anyone shooting any of them.
