Alternative Fitness classes

    Hi,

Looking for a bit of advice/help/informed opinion

I'm not the fittest lad in the world but I would'nt say I'm totally unfit either (by my slack standards).

I've ran marathons before (last three years ago) and I can jog/run about 5k at the moment without it taking too much out of me.

I've just started training for the Dublin marathon next autumn so that distance should increase slowly (particularly over summer) but I'm looking to do some alternative stuff alongside to develop core strength and maybe build up arms, chest a little etc and maybe flatten my stomach - just curious how far I can push it without going to unhealthy levels or overtraining - I wouldn't say I was in peak physical condition running the last one and I got a 3:30 but tbh I've been feeling lately that those days are long gone and unless I change things up a bit and make more of an effort I wont even approach that the next time maybe partly because of mental boredom with the training regime as much as getting older.

Now the last thing I want to do is get a gym membership, start with good intentions before boring myself to tears and then go less and less frequently

I tend to do better with organised classes and in something new or that I haven't tried before preferably for beginners so i'm not at sea at the start (and a little eye candy wouldn't hurt either:pac:)

Spent some time on Google and came up with a couple of possibles and was wondering what people think of the below and if the could suggest something similar or possibly something totally different which could be good (I'm open to anything haven't ever done any martial art etc as long as its not given by some nutter with no training - maybe not so much pole dancing for fitness or zumba as much as I like lots of sweaty women)

Anyway I'm a bit at sea here so wondering what do ye think? anything similar or more unusual? in the Dublin/Leinster area preferably - amaze me:D....please!

Spin classes would be a good compliment to your running training. It's low impact and would help immensely with endurance.

And there's always plenty of sweaty women.

Anything with "Spartan" or any variation in the title is a tad gimmicky but boxing is a great workout and if the guy is legit I'm sure it'll be effective. Best advice is to drop by and have a look, speak to the guy running it and see what he's like. If it looks like fun try it out.

The best exercise is one you enjoy after all.

I can vouch that Simon who runs spartan is legit. Great guy and classes are really good.
