HDMI Audio Issue

    Hi guys,

Pulling my hair out over an issue with the sound when running my laptop thru my TV via HDMI the past couple of weeks.

Firstly it's a new Asus laptop running Windows 8 and a Samsung 32" LCD tv I'm using. the first few times there was no issue, then one day after disconnecting the laptop the sound was still set to come out of the TV, rather than the laptop's own speakers so I disabled the TV as the selected audio device and changed back to the speakers.

Ever since that though, the sound will not come out of the TV, even when I connect and go into control panel and go to Manage audio devices the laptop speakers are the only option. Same goes in the Realtek Audio Manager. It's driving me mad!

Is there any way I can re-enable the TV as an audio device?

The laptop uses Asus 'Instant On' software, meaning I suppose it only ever really hibernates, it turns on in 2 seconds when you press the power button. Would shutting it down fully or restarting fully sort the problem out I wonder? I'll try that later, but if anyone has come across this problem before and could help me out it'd be great.
