"baby" acoustics?

    Howdee,

So, looks like I could be on the move across the water, and am trying to figure out what guitars etc to bring with me. I am also thinking how to best get around metropolis London with instruments.

Which got me thinking about small acoustic guitars.

I have a Martin GPC series, which I may or may not sell if I go. It's a lovely semi-acoustic, but I'm not married to it. I'm sure I'd pick up something else just as nice if it came to it.

So, lugging a "little Martin" or a "baby taylor", or a "big baby taylor" around public transport in London would be easy.

Bang a pickup into one, and a DI box, and you're away in a hack right? ;)

I have played a big baby Taylor and was very impressed with the feel and sound of it. There was no pickup in it at the time though. But a small guitar slapped into a DI can be good enough I find. I have seen Damon Albarn use a baby Taylor before....

The Taylor GS Mini - especially the limited editions from last year - look like fantastic guitars.

A second the GS mini there have been some lovely ltd edition ones of late. Also pop in a Es-go pickup which its already setup for and away you go.

Yeah, seen the demos of them, and they look good and sound good, but it's always a case of playing them. Anywhere in Dublin have them?
Would they be much smaller than a regular guitar? As in, if it came to me making the move, would it be worth "down sizing"...

Perfect Pitch had one in the window a couple of weeks ago.

There were a couple out in xmusic over Christmas, dunno if they are still in stock but worth checking as they had a few ltd and a standard. They are a good bit smaller alright, I found it interesting to play the smaller scale and do some odd chords that I normally couldnt.

I've played the baby cort, and it was a nice little guitar. If I do make the move, something like that would be great for gigs, as I'd be travelling by public transport. Slap a pickup into it, a DI box, and it would do the job. Not necessarily the Cort, but a more compact acoustic. Would also be handy for storage wherever I end up living.
Will bring the Martin over anyways, might sell it, and get a baby or GS mini......
