Well done RSA & the new ad campaign on TV cause I would have never been made aware of the "careful now" broken line & just thought Joe had a bad day with the paint stencil.
How many more hidden rules are there I'm not aware of.

Driving 15 years without an accident btw.

Doesn't it say on the ad that it's new?

It's wasn't hidden. Just nothing like this existed before.
It was introduced in last years road traffic regulations amendments, so even if you were driving for 30 years, you couldn't know them.

What is the point of it?

A broken line means you can overtake when it is safe to do so, a longer broken line now means overtake when it is safe to do so but we really wouldn't recommend it?

It's seems a bit daft alright. I don't really get the point of it at all..........

What way will the law interpret an accident now ?
It's a bit of an Irish fudge.

Who has the call as to what goes down, the local authority ?

Indeed, if they are going to implement more stuff like this they could really make a better job of getting the word out there. Heard some rumours of this "new line" , have seen an ad mentioning it maybe twice in the intervening period.

Sounds like a fudge for single carriage way roads that are completely inadequate for the volume and type of traffic they carry.

They've used that type of line system in the north for years. It was only a matter of time that backward Ireland caught up.

No sound on this college pc!

I'm assuming they're on about the lines at the end that go closer together.... Yes, like the North that's had those for years

There's a new section on the N69 between Listowel and Tralee with these lines.

I assume this new line reverts to a standard broken white line once the danger has passed or is clear, yes?

Interesting. The new "no entry" sign means no entry. What did the old one mean? Come in?

The old one looked completely different.

They unified plenty of signs in line with signs used on the Continent.
I think it was a good thing to do.
