    Hey,

Got a yellow warning light for Oil last night. Checked levels and was a slightly below what it should have been. Topped up oil last night to the correct levels and the light in still on today.

Any thoughts? Does it need to be reset?

    Cheers!!

Could be a problem with the oil pressure sender/sensor or less likely but alot more serious your oil pump. Best to get it diagnosed ASAP. Oil light doesn't measure oil level. Only the dipstick does that.

Isn't the yellow oil light just an oil service indicator? It come's on every 5000 miles (unless they reprogram with VAG COM to 10000/15000/20000 miles) as a reminder to change the oil.

if you reset it and it goes away then that's it. If it doesn't go away after a reset get it checked out.

To reset is: (if you dont already know)

with the engine turned off, hold down the trip meter button on the right hand side of your instrument panel (0.0) swith on the ignition but not the engine (first key notch) then when service now appears press the minute button on the left side of the instrument panel and it will reset.

After you reset, it's set to come back on in another 5000 miles

The yellow oil light on VWs does is for oil level. The red light is for pressure ;)

quite common for the sensors to act up especially if poorly serviced or wrong oil
