This type of stuff is usually only enforced where the cop is having a bad day AND the licence is not in english.
I've certainly never had a problem with mine as long as you have your passport as well.

AA used to turn them around same day, but their website says 5 working days now.

I started a thread on this in the United States forum, didn't know whether to put it there, here or in travel, maybe a mod could take a look & merge if needed

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding it. As far as I know Florida is the only state and its only just been brought in. My dad came back from Florida on Saturday and rented a car with no issue.

Hopefully AA will be able to do it on the spot for me, either way I'll be getting/applying for the license to be on the safe side. After meeting one particularly nasty Sheriff I want to have everything in check. Although all the other Sheriffs I dealt with are sound, especially one deputy sheriff, who caught us accidentally trespassing on a banks property!

I think there was something in the travel section of the Sunday Times this week, saying that they were suspending the requirement.
