Seen this video posted on falconry forum and left me baffled
Seems blue tits have a taste for sparrows

    Also not for squeamish

    Insane. Wildly unexpected.
It is great tit and redpoll which are actually pretty close in size but it is still astounding.
Blue tit and sparrow would be a david and goliath match up.

I think this is the same Great Tit which was recorded killing 20 Redpolls and a Yellowhammer in southern Finland.

Wow. Just think, if this trait is passed on to its offspring in a couple of million years we could be looking at a new species of predatory tits!

Great tits have also learnt to kill hibernating bats and eat the brain just like this one did to the Redpoll

According to this article, Great Tits have been proudly cracking open skulls since 1899.
But they must really hate sunflower seeds. The fight in that video took place on a carpet of uneaten sunflower seeds.

Yep, there are many cases of Great Tits attacking bats and smaller birds. Not a common sight in Ireland, but GTs in other parts of Europe have been predating on bats/other birds for a very long time.
