New Job?

I have recently started a job in an industry I really enjoy. I am two months in and I really like it and learning lots. However, I have seen a job advertised that I think I would like even more (within the same industry). I am 24 and not sure what to do because I don't want to be seen hopping from job to job but then again I don't want to pass up a possible great opportunity?

    Advice is very welcome.

You need to strike the happy balance between stability and job satisfaction.
Stay a while and learn, them move on.

Take every opportunity you get to improve your prospects, however be wary how your cv will look to employers.

I'd stay in your current job. Sounds like it's going well.

The other job may not be as advertised or there could be other issues such as asshole workmates etc

There will be further opportunities in the future!

Some people have it all; honestly the choice of TWO jobs; in this day and age.
and me like a sucker stuck in the same job for years.

Upskill. Or are you even searching?

Op, go for it, see what they are offering and if it's better then take it. Nobody is going to judge you for moving after two months.

Sure apply for the job and go from there, at least it might quell any doubts you may have

He didn't say he has been offered two jobs, he has one and has seen another advertised.

There are jobs going if your willing to look, and pretty much jump through any hoops the employers are asking you to.

For an internship I've had to do 2 interviews and there is still another round to get through apparently...

And to OP, I'd say apply, and see what happens, if you get an interview great, check the company out when you go to it, see if they live up to what you think. Just don't make any commitments while your still unsure, and I wouldn't tell your current employer either.

If the new employer wants you, they should be accommodating of any notice you have to give your current employer.

With an opinion like this you will always be stuck in that same old job/routine, for fear of change.

No harm to have a look and see what's on offer.

Thanks for all the advice. It is actually within the marketing industry which is quite small in Ireland so if I did go for it, there is a good chance my employer will find out as we often deal with the new company in question a lot of the time.

Can I have the first job then?
    What industry is it in?

Your new employer wont care, unless they are 16 year old girls.

They will understand and be professional and will more than likely forget they hired you in about 2 weeks.

Well its down to you then really!

Your current employer cant really do much even if they did find out tbh...
Might make your relationship with them a bit difficult, but at the end of the day its your career, look after numero uno ;)

No you wont. I've had 4 jobs in around 12 years with some substancial pay raises.

Jumping from job to job after a few months will not look on a cv or help to OP gain experience.

But hey, it might actually be the right decision to take the new job. We'll never know unless someone invents a machine where we can look into parallel universes based on the decisions we make !!

Apply, if you get have a sit down with your current manager and say "I was offered 4 beans at this new company, I really like working here, can you match that yadda yadda?" and see what they say.

They shouldn't find out under HR policy and what not, if you're unsuccesful in the application.

Apply for the job and see if you get an interview first, no point in worrying about it until you have the job and a decision to make.

    Dont do it.

You've only been in the door a few months.
Jumping ship so quickly within an industry you don't have established experience in doesn't look good.

As the potential employer I'd immediately be questioning of your commitment to the line of work and wouldn't have much confidence in your reliability as someone who'll stick around in the role long enough to become useful.

If the market is small and your company will have future dealing with that company I can see it doing your image a lot of damage...
