There seems to be a huge variation in prices quoted in farmers journal for factory prices being paid for cows and its not the easiest table to follow.
I have some fat fresian cows condition score 4 what would this be on the table for the factory ie grade O or P ?? and whats the p1 and p2 about. which factories pays best for cowsand do you ring first to get quotes?? Thanks

As far as i know fresian cows only grade P, not an expert on the p1/p2 ect its to do with the amount of flesh on the cows.Def ring round get a few quotes from the factorys. From my experience cows kill out at about 42/3% "i weight them before i load them". But if they were my cows id have my sums done and id try them in the mart most of the time you will get more for them there than in the factory and if not you got a second chance to bring them to the factory. hope this helps you.

P is the conformation grade 1-5 are the fat/flesh cover count. Cows at P1 have little flesh cover cows at P2 are still low on flesh fat cover 3 is what the factories look for at a minimum. If your cows have only a little flesh they will more than likly do better in the mart especially this time of year, you are within a month of the start of the grazing season and some finishers specialise in cows to have them ready for late May/June when the factories are short of cattle.
