So my street is in darkness this evening, the electricity went an hour ago, north Dublin city and still not back up. Is it a matter of hanging tight for the big switch back on or could I contact esb myself ?

Hows about you contact them & inform them. They would probably already be aware, but to be sure to be sure like :)

Ring the esb. Atleast you'll know a time frame of when it could be back

Should this not be titled power out? Sorry just when I saw 'cut' I presumed someone forgot to pay the bill

Ring Esb networks, number is on the bill. You need your mprn number (on the bill also). If its a known fault there will be a recorded message with estimated fix time. Mine was gone all lastnight. Pain in the bum.

Start by organising a street whip round to pay off some of the arrears.

As valid as any theory until proven otherwise.

Some people have these things called mobile phones these days. Apparently, you don't need to plug them in and the screen lights up! Technology these days eh!

It's times like this that I wish my grandparent's were alive. They would have marvelled at the ability to ask a public forum whether they should ring the ESB when the electric light out or wait for it to come back on.

    Now that's progress.

I wish mine were alive too.

Then I wouldn't have spent 5 years in Mountjoy on those stupid manslaughter charges.

I thought so, considering I faked a really convincing suicide note in their handwriting and everything!

Perhaps you're getting your power fed via the local traffic lights, your house is wired to the stop light! ;)

Who do you think you're foolin'? 5 years?

Had you said 6 months and the rest suspended then I'd have believed you. This is Ireland.

Growing up the electricity used to go quite a bit in winter and we used to oil lamps like these. Don't really see them any more. Any other houses used to have them?
