Question for anyone in HR

Would you be more inclined to pay attention to a candidate whose cv is sent from a recruiter rather than a direct applicant?

Background info: My niece had been in touch with a recruiter a couple of months back and indeed got an interview but didn't land the job. She didn't find the recruiter especially helpful, he basically didn't want to know about it once she didn't get the job, no advice or anything.

She spotted a job over the weekend and was going to apply this week. She received an email yesterday from the recruiter about the same job. I told her to just apply directly but she seems to think she would have a better chance coming from a recruiter as HR will know they would only send qualified applicants and they may even a professional relationship/friendship.

    Opinions appreciated.

Actually I would say its the opposite. Companies don't have to pay the recruitment fee if the applicant applies directly. Also from experience I would never think that recruitment agencies only send in qualified applicants. I would advise your niece to put the time into ensuring she has a good cv put together. That's the first hurdle she has to get over. Hope the job application works out for her.

Agree with cordni that direct is probably best in this instance.
