I know UCC & UCD have won there championships in both football and hurling, but have/do colleges play in anyothers? NUIG in Galway? UL in Limerick? Have any of the colleges in Ulster UUJ, Queens etc played in county championships? What do people think od them playing in them in general?

NUIM played in the Kildare u21 championship for a while. The Kildare County Board put a stop to it a few years ago.

No problem with them playing in the championship ... but they should be treated the same as any other representative/divisional side

Lets take the Cork SFC in 2011 as an example:
UCC beat Castlehaven in the county final 2011 (full disclosure: the mother is from Castlehaven). UCC then went on to represent Cork in the Munster Club SFC and lost to Dr. Crokes in the final.

    No problems so far.

UCC come through the divisional side of the draw in Cork and any player can only play for 1 senior football team within the county each year. As such players from senior clubs in cork that attend UCC would have to make a choice as to which club they wish to play for.

Getting a bit iffy since Duhallow or Beara (both Divisional sides - made up of players from the Junior and Intermediate clubs in the division) wouldn't be allowed represent the county ...

However, there is no such restriction on players from senior clubs in other counties. In 2011 there were 2 players that played in the Kerry SFC semi final on a Saturday evening before the Cork SFC final on the Sunday (I want to say they played for Dr. Crokes and there may have been more than 2 but I can't confirm those details at the moment - I'll see if I can dig out the programme at home)

I believe there's a very simple solution - If the programme lists the different clubs that players on the one team play for, that team should be treated as a representative side (the same as the Divisional teams in Cork) and they should not be able to represent the county in the provincial club championship

... feels good to get that rant off my chest :)
