Travel advice for honeymoon

Ok so we are getting married in Nov and are looking at honeymoon ideas. We have a budget of 2,000 per person, a time frame of 2 1/2 - 3 weeks we would like to spend on honeymoon and ideally we would like to see lots of stuff and do lots of tours and spend maybe 4 nights in a nice hotel at the end of our trip before travelling home. We are not looking full board in the hotels either, just B&B

Every travel agent we have went to has said our budget is very tight. But I think for a total of 4 thousand euro we should be able to have a fantastic holiday. Now I understand it is not a fortune to have but we dont want to get into debt and start our married life on the wrong foot. I am not expecting 5* treatment all the way but surely they should be able to do something for us. We were thinking Sri Lanke or China and Thailand combined.

I have researched these on my own and they come under budget. My question is has anyone every booked their own honeymoon doing everything online? Any advice anyone can offer me? The best advice we got but foolishly didnt listen to is not to tell travel agents it is a honeymoon. The minute they here HM everything goes up in price.

Does anyone know of any trips we could do on this budget? Or any travel agents that could help?

    Thanks!

I had similar time, budget and situation a year and a half ago before getting married. I don't think that you would have any problem booking things seperately yourself. It worked for us but then everyone is different. We had a tour in India for two weeks and stopped in Dubai on way home. It was booked online so there was no premium for calling it a honeymoon.

In a similar vein we will go to china shortly for 16 days with approx trip cost for flights, accomodation, guide of approx your budget. It is entirely possible for you to get what you wish on that budget.
