Simple enough question. We have Sky and are moving house tomorrow, obviously we will be bringing our box and card with us to the new house which has a working dish. Will we keep our recorded shows/movies? What if i just put our card into the HD+ box currently in the house?

Edit: Ive just realised i put this in the wrong forum, could a mod move it to the Satellite forum?

I moved house 5 years ago and I was able to access recordings once I was hooked up in the new house and had contacted Sky, I didn't lose anything. That was a Sky+ box, I'd say the HD boxes are the same.
Before I had it reinstalled I could access the planner but it wouldn't let me play anything.

Did an engineer have to come to the house to change things for you? I was thinking that surely a phone call to sky would be enough to link the sky box to the new dish.

It was a new house so we didn't have a dish. We rang sky before we moved and they sent somebody out to take down the old dish and when the new house was ready they put it up for us and it all worked fine. Might be worth phoning Sky to see how things work these days. If there is already a dish there you probably just need to let them know you have changed address.

i moved into new house about 1yr ago and sky said recording will stay on as there stored in the box. you need your own sky box once you connect it to dish where you are you will have all your recording
