    Hey guys,

Can someone check either on their device or web if you can now access the full Play Store (apps, music, books, magazines and movies) in Ireland?

A few mins ago I was checking for an app on the web store and noticed all the categories are now available! Checked my phone and tablet and I have full access there too!

Prices are in GBP though ...

Did you purchase a Nexus 4 / 7 / 10 recently via the UK Play Store?

I have and this has for some reason, unlocked the whole store for me.

Also read yesterday if you use Sky broadband you get the UK play store too.

I just checked my nexus 10, I now have full access to the play store, it looks pretty good actually. All the prices are in pounds though.

Oh check if you can watch bbc iplayer then, might be giving people UK ips

I did attempt to buy a Nexus 4, with this google account twice, but both times, it was cancelled!

I'm definitely using my works Irish IP address, no proxies allowed and the same on my phones O2 3G network.

If I sign out however, I only see the Irish store, with just apps. Sign back in and I see the full UK play store again!

Must be some kinda glitch?? :)

There is, if you go through a browser!

I'd say it's a glitch. My bet is they rolled out the wrong version in an update to the play store app. Everything is listed in $ not €. Given the size of the Google operation in Dublin this isn't going to go un-noticed. I'd say they are scrambling to fix it as we speak. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Possibly related to recent device purchase currency / country then?

"Theme from Shaft" is the free song of the day on the music store for those of you with the Google Play music app.

Yeah I've got the full Play store. I'm with Vodafone, seems to think I'm in the US as all prices are in dollars.

If you previously used a VPN to access either the US or UK Google play stores it appears that this glitch (if it is a glitch) is now allowing access to that store without needing a VPN.

Nope, I used TB several times recently and I'm getting the IE store. Didn't make a purchase though, so that could be it I guess.

I went to Scotland for a few days about a month ago and had access to the UK store. I do go about every 6 weeks. When I return I have access to the UK store for a few days until I reboot my Nexus or do something like that and then I'm back to the regular Irish store. I think the Google Play App only checks your IP when it starts or updates terms or something like that. It doesn't check it every time you use it but I'm pretty sure you'll default back to the Irish one soon enough as it has happened me a few times.

The important thing is to unlock the Google Movie App, Google Music App and upload a song or two from your computer, Google Books etc as these all continue to work. By work I mean you can use them but can't purchase content through them so for example I use Google Movies as a media player and use Google Music for listening to music I've stored in the cloud.

Nothing here, still only apps available in play. not music.

I already have google music installed with the cloud over VPN, and its still setup as just my music. cant search any music store or anything special.

Sorry! Music on Google Play is not available in your country yet.
We're working to bring the content you love to more countries as quickly as possible.
    Please check back again soon.

US play store still accessible for me - on a work computer so I definitely don't have a VPN accidently switched on.

"That's Entertainment" by the Jam has replaced "Theme from Shaft" as the free song of the day :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,583 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

On the UK one, it's free song of the week!!

    Cheap bastards!! :pac:

Now that I'm home I can still acces the UK play store from my computer, it's very odd. If only I wanted a Nexus 4 or 7 at the moment.

Eircom, though it was also coming through on my 3 handset. I've been talking to a few people who aren't getting it, it all seems a bit strange that some are getting it and some aren't.

Just noticed I'm on UK play store.
I did order a nexus 4 and changed my billing address to my parcel motel postcode.
Surely that's something to do with it???

Hmm, I just turned on Tunnelbear and stayed on the Irish store.

Granted I think my address is set to Ireland. Is yours?

My address is my Irish one. Did you close your browser and restart it after turning on Tunnelbear?

Just tried it there on my browser (chrome) and no results again.
Tested it on my phone and PC with no result.

    Strange bug it seems.

When I'm signed in, I see the UK play store (all categories).

    6034073

But when I'm signed out, I see the Irish (apps only) store.

    6034073

I'm not using a proxy or VPN. But even if I was, when I signed out, I would still see the UK store, but I don't :)

Sorry if screenshots are too big!

My default address is my PM one in Antrim - think that's the key as I still have my home address saved.

Same here, to the people who are seeing the US play store is a US address your default address? And is there anyone getting the UK play store who don't have a UK address as their default?

I removed the UK card I used and the PM address since my order shipped and 2 things have happened:

    1. The Play Store have went back to the Irish one.
    2. I am unable to add my Ulster Visa Debit to my account (was working fine before purchase of Nexus).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,663 ✭✭✭Nolimits
