Gotta say I love this guy. Why did it take so long for him to rise hes a fantastic actor. His performance in inglorious bastards is what makes that movie so re-watchable. Excellent once again in django with the dour jamie foxx alongside.

Hes just so articulate and such a presence.

    Whats everyone else think?

Well, if you look through his IMDB (which I did earlier, as I was trying to see if he had an appearance in the West Wing), he had a pretty prolific career in his native Germany. It's the same with Javier Bardem in Spain before No Country For Old Men. Sometimes, they're just happy in their native land before looking elsewhere. But you're right, he is phenomenal with a great screen presence .. Inglorious Bastards was equal parts charming and downright menacing.

Ya just watched water for elephants there too poor enough movie I thought but waltz had some very good moments.

I think tarantino suits him as he is suited to alot of dialogue which his movies are full of. Give him a platform to impose his character on screen.

Waltz is a great scenery chewer. He was the best thing about Carnage as well. He's constantly in the background snorting and making faces. Foster, Winslet and Reilly are no slouches but Waltz still steels the show.

    Absolutely brilliant.
He completely steals any scene he is in.

Does that mean we have Tarantino to thank for introducing him to us?

Allied with being a very charasmatic actor, I think he grows a cool beard.

Nail on the head. Was watching the baftas the other night and there were beards everywhere, but very few cool ones. Clooneys was a bit ropey, he needs to go whole hog like he did in Syrinia, none of this beard-lite crap. Ben Affleck's beard is pretty cool too, arguably beard of the night.
Agreed though, waltz is quality. Think I read somewhere that he studied acting in the lee strasberg school in the 70s.

He was in a sketch in a British Comedy show in 1995. The sketch was co- written by Graham Linehan too.

He was the only good thing about the Green Hornet ;).

He has such a screen presence, if you look at Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained there were a lot of great performances in both films but yet every scene he is in, he steals the show.

He's hosting Saturday Night Live in the US this weekend.

He's like Christopher Walken, all he has to do is talk and the film is immediately 100% improved.

This guy is one of my favourite actors, you could put him beside any of the biggest names and he would still steal the show. He really is fantastic. He made Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds one of the best baddies ever.

I can't wait to see him in more Tarintino stuff. He was by far the best character in Django.

I'm going to check out all his films now. Made Django a great film

And let's not forget his appearance in the (awful) Irish-made film Ordinary Decent Criminal

    Great actor
