Hi, I need to get a Campag Chorus BB(square-taper)/Cassette tool. I've seen a few (online on CRC, Wiggle, Ribble etc and instore in CSS) but they all either require a 24mm socket or come attached to a rediculously long handle (presumably to get sufficient leverage for the cassette lock-ring) and is unlikely to even fit in my toolbox!

I want one to fit a 1/2" or 3/8" drive torque wrench. I've not seen one advertised anywhere, so perhaps I've not looked far enough or for the right item................or maybe they are not even available. Anyone got one and can suggest where I can buy?

This Park Tool one takes a 3/8" drive.

Edit: Ah, sorry, got my numbers mixed up, that one is for Shimano, not Campag.

Thanks, but that one - like those I lined to - takes a 24mm spanner rather than a ratchet/torque wrench

just use a socket on the torque wrench

Thanks. Of course I could do that.......but apart from needing to also buy one (I dont have ANYTHING that takes a 24!), probably doubling my cost, its a messy solution (and the engineer in me doesnt like that idea.....)

I have the BBB one with the handle and would recommend it. It's not that long and much handier to use than one that needs a separate spanner or sprocket tool.

Thanks ! Presumably you are confident enough with torquing the cassette lock ring 'by feel'............I guess its fine when you are familiar and confident. I went to the trouble of buying a T/W to avoid the 'guessing' bit !!!

For what it's worth, I only use a torque wrench when dealing with carbon parts or frameset. Admittedly, after I bought my first torque wrench (after buying my first carbon bike) I found myself questioning the wisdom of not using a torque wrench on my steel and aluminium frames, despite being quite happy working on those for many years without a torque wrench. Persistance won out though, helped by laziness making it seem like a chore to dig out the torque wrench, so I now reserve the torque wrenches for carbon stuff. And even then it's often overkill if you have any experience of using feel to determine tightness of bolts.

I have the Pedros Pro Socket Handle 2.0 and I find it works very well with 25.4mm/1" tools when I don't use a torque wrench. The collar on it helps hold the tool/remover in place, which is very handy. The RRP on it is high though (around UK£40) but I got mine from Wiggle when it was reduced to half of that and at the time it did seem to be on offer quite often.

I have two torque wrenches; one for lower torques and a second one for use on bottom brackets and the like. I use them on most parts even reattaching brake pad holders after I over tightened one last year and snapped the bolt.

For some reason i never feel the need to use a torque wrench on the cassette and i actually have the campag tool that you are looking for! I remove and refit them fairly often and with the BBB tool it's just very easy. I think it's unlikely I'd over tighten them as I the recommended torque is about 40nm, probably under tightened though.

IceToolz do one, I think I got mine from woolyhatshop.

I ended up getting a 21mm wrench also, it was useful to use along with the 1/2" driver on stubborn Shimano freewheels.

EDIT: I see Evans carry it also, free delivery at the mo, plus 3 for 2 on tools & cleaning gear.
