Hi there – I am looking to buy an ANT+ USB stick (Garmin or Suunto) if anyone has one they are not using or are looking to offload.
    Thanks

I have a Garmin one. How much are you offering?

    Hi - E20?

Make it €25 and I'll cover postage?

Only bought it 6 weeks ago and is "as new".

I have one for sale also but won't undercut the seller.

Just realised mine isn't an Ant+, tis only an Ant.
Don't know what the difference is, but I'd say rom is up.

I'm open to correction on this but I think that Garmin only sell one USB stick and it seems to be the same product that is described as ANT by some retailers and ANT+ by other retailers. At least, when I was looking for a Garmin ANT+ USB stick recently that's what I found. The Garmin website itself seems to mention only USB stick, which they label as ANT.

Mine was bundled with a Garmin 610 if that is any benefit. PM me if interested as I am not actively monitoring this thread.

It does seem that there are two version. This seems to be the older version. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000UO9KSY/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1ZRSAK1MCZB9V755G52D&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=358549767&pf_rd_i=468294

My one being the latest. http://www.amazon.co.uk/GARMIN-USB-ANT-Stick-Forerunner/dp/B00562JWIS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1360231255&sr=8-2

    Thanks

Hope the OP doesn't read the reviews in the links you posted! ;)

I'm not sure that those are actually two different versions. The retailers describe one as ANT and the other as ANT+ but when I checked the Garmin website I could find no mention of a USB stick described as ANT+, they just seem to list the one described as ANT. So either the Garmin site isn't bothering to show a newer version of the USB stick, or the retailers are very arbitrary with their descriptions (or, maybe there really are two different USB sticks on the Garmin website but I'm failing to find the second one - I find it a horrible site to find things in).

What's more, the "ANT" one that you link to above from Amazon is reported to work with the Garmin HRM strap and speed sensor, both of which are ANT+. Maybe those sensors are using ANT, rather than ANT+, to talk to the USB key but I'm not sure that that even makes sense as I'm not familiar with ANT/ANT+ technology.

In short, I'm confused by the whole thing but my inner cynic falls on the side of believing that the retailers are the source of the confusion by using different names for the same product (and Garmin's own site doesn't seem to provide any clarity unfortunately). The difference in price might be entirely down to Amazon's own aggressive pricing versus that of their competitors, and it's not unusual to see significant disparities there sometimes, but that's just a guess on my part too.

ANT1 had a limited number of channels (4), whereas the newer ANT2 stick has more channels (8).  In common scenarios like downloading your data, it doesn’t really matter.  But when it comes to applications that may leverage the USB stick for real-time data transfer – such as TrainerRoad – the extra channels become really important if you have multiple ANT+ accessories (like Speed, Cadence, Power Meters, Heart Rate, etc…).  Or – if you’ve got multiplayer type applications taking advantage of it.  Each channel is limited to one ANT+ accessory.

    What watch you have ?

Thanks for all the replies, I am looking for ANT+ specifically as I want to use with TrainerRoad....I believe it says on the back of the Garmin USBs whether its ANT or ANT+ (it may also say USB2 - indicating 8 channels).

To both sellers: Does it indicate which you have?

    Thanks

Differences are explained here in a review of the Suunto USB ANT stick
    http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;navigation=1;product=22039;page=1;menu=1000,5,144,145;mid=262

    ANT1 4 channels ANT2 8 Channels
I got the Suunto on bike24.com for €24.90 delivery is €10 so you would need to being buying a few more things to make it more worth while. Still cheaper than amazon. They're out of stock at the minute though

I'd recommend it over the garmin it is tiny in comparison and you can leave it plugged in the usb port all the time.

    Will check.

I can tell you though that I've used mine with TrainerRoad without any issue.

Just to follow up on this, mine is actually an Ant+, so I may have undersold myself.
That said, that's the price I offered, so I have to stick by it.

Just in case anyone is considering buying this Garmin USB key listed by Amazon, which Amazon describe as a "Garmin USB ANT Stick", I can confirm that it is an ANT+ key according to the description on the back of the stick itself. Or, at least, that's the case for the one that I ordered several days back and which arrived this morning - it is marked as "USB2 Wireless USB Stick" and "ANT+". Garmin's own label on the packaging is "USB ANT Stick", just to add to the confusion, as you have to open the packaging to find any mention of ANT+.

Yup, same as for mine...which is why I thought it was an ANT and not an ANT+.
