Disc on the window or no test.

my car was not taxed and it went through. they dont look at the tax disc and it is not a requirement. you have just to bring the log book and your car licence...

You'd want to go in first thing tomorrow before they process it and put it in the post.

I think the OP is talking about the driving test rather than the NCT. Doing a driving test in a car without a valid tax disc is an automatic failure afaik. The instructor probably will not even sit in the car.

OP, if you had paid it in the motor tax office they probably would have issued the disc there and then but you will be waiting a few days by paying online.

Of course it's a requirement your car is not supposed to be on the road without a valid tax cert.

They check your Insurance, tax and NCT before they even get into the car.

There are times online is not always the best way.

Is the driving test scheduled before the postman comes?
Any time I've paid the Motor Tax at a weekend the disc was issued on the Monday and was in my letterbox on Tuesday.
It's too tight to risk it imo so I'd suggest your niece considers getting another car or hiring an instructor's car for the test.

What time is the test on Tuesday? It's possible that the disc will come on Tuesday, I've always got mine very quickly.

If you go into the motor tax office they will give it to you there and then. Only thing is I'm not sure if they could cancel your online order

They can't cancel it and they cannot issue a disc.

Once you finalise the online transaction, it is considered to be taxed and the tax office will not get involved.

We are talking here about driving test, not the NCT.

OP go to motortax office on Monday and claim you lost your disc.
They will issue a duplicate for a fee (I suppose).

Defo have to have disc on window. Also make sure insurance and nct (if applicable) is up to date and displayed. If not, tester cannot conduct test.
