just wondering can a commercial 2011 discovery be converted to a 5 seater crewcab, and keep the commercial tax, as i need the extra seats for travelling with employees to work, would save having 2nd vehicle going to jobs

it was purchaced on nov 2010 for reg on jan 2011 and escaped the 6k vrt.

it must have the floor space as the are seling them as a utility 5 seater now.

    any help appreciated

I doubt it as the seat mounts and seat belt mounts etc shouldn't be there to put the seats back, would probably be easier and cheaper to chop it in for a genuine 5 seater if it's that new.

Land Rover managed to get post 2010 5 seaters classified as N1 commercial for VRT and VAT purposes, commercial motor tax would only apply if you can prove you have employees that need the seats

if you buy a new discovery uitility 5 seater can you tax it commercial if you have 3 employees and use it for work?

I believe so, but you always run the risk of being copped if you're using it privately at the weekend or whatever. I know thousands do but when the revenue are chasing very penny it's a risk to consider! Private road tax on an N1 is also based on engine size rather than emissions which can also be a saving if it comes to it.

Should have said see the commercial tax issue thread below this one, it explains a bit more about Land Rover and N1 and also the fact that changes to body type have to be assessed by an SQI before the VRO will change it.

The seat belts mounts/ seat mounts (threaded holes) will still be there. I've done the commercial to passenger conversion. Everything is left as is.

Just needed a new middle carpet.
109 euro from landrover I think.

Only spanner would be the goverment I'd imagine.
