I've just picked up painting and drawing as a hobby and want a set of really good coloring pencils. Any advice?

Rexel Cumberland Derwent Studio pencils or Artist pencils have a lovely tone and are soft to use. If you can, go to an art shop and buy individual pencils. You'll only use a couple of the ones in a set so better to pick the colours you'll actually use.

Look for polychromos, they are lovely to work with and a world away from colouring pencils. Faber Castell do one. You can buy separately but it is cheaper to buy a set, even then they are quite expensive.
