I'm looking at starting a small flock and I was wondering when ye think sheep are best value?

In-lamb ewes, Ewes with lambs at foot, pet lambs etc etc

    Cheers

A neighbour of mine buys old ewes from the west and uses a charollais ram. He reckons its the best way of making money from sheep.

A buddy of mine does the same . Last year he did very well , the majority of them kept to the ram and they all fattened handy for him and the prices were good . This year is the opposite but I dont think he will lose anything on them either .
Now would be a good time to buy sheep I think as they are down in price , grass is scarce and meal is dear .

It's a great option. This guy says describeds himself as a "grass farmer" and is very flexible with the stock he buys.
