Folks, it's that time of year again!!
    nalhdhaskfhsg.jpg

It's time for the Irish Academy Awards or the 'Love Hate Awards', we all know the show is going to clean up as it was one of the few decent TV programmes on Irish TV over the last year :pac::pac::pac:

I know my OP is very very long but I wanted to include all the nominees, I can't help feeling sorry for the poor devils you appear in the 60 second

"here are some other awards that were presented earlier this evening" slot before the ad breaks :( It must be so disappointing for their mammies and daddies :D Anyway, I'm happy to give them a mention here!!

I was also thinking, if Gabriel Byrne wants to make up for slating 'The Gathering' he should round up a few of his US celeb friends and bring them to Dublin for the IFTAs, it could be his contribution to the Gathering ;).

I have to say I'm pretty worried about Brendan O'Carroll picking up another IFTA this year, if he does, we'll probably be guaranteed Mrs. Brown's Boys Christmas Specials every year for the foreseeable future :(
The 10th Irish Film & Television Awards Ceremony will be broadcast on Saturday 9th February in the Convention Centre Dublin. The awards will be presented by Simon Delaney.

Marking the 10th year of IFTA, this year's Awards Ceremony will showcase the best of Ireland's creative talent and will acknowledge the achievements of Ireland's creative industry.

The ceremony will welcome a host of film stars, TV personalities, directors, producers and distinguished guests to celebrate the undisputed talent that exists within the film and television industries in Ireland and around the globe whilst also reflecting on the past ten years.

Not at all, I'm pretty nifty on a keyboard ;):D
    Is it on TV?

Yes, tomorrow night (Sat), RTE 1 @ 9:35pm

    My predictions:

Love/Hate and What Richard Did will clean up.
Brendan O'Carroll will deliberately mispronounce 'genre' again to show he's working class.
Most of the TV audience will be as bored as those attending.

It's so predictable the way that the same 2 or 3 films turn up in every category. Most of us have never heard of them and we'll never hear about them again, unless we're watching RTE 2 of a weeknight at 3 o'clock in the morning in a few year's time and one of those obscure Irish films is shown, and even then we'll probably find them to be a good cure for insomnia.

Still, it should be fun to take the p!ss out of all those precious and earnest actooors and actresses.

They should bring back The Jacobs Awards, that's what I say!

Jack Lukeman aka Jack L, Brian Byrne and Aoife Ní Bhriain will be entertaining the IFTA audience with their music this evening.
Spectacular Music will also play a major part in marking the milestone 10th year of the annual IFTA Awards Ceremony.

The Academy has invited IFTA Award winning Composer and Golden Globe Nominee Brian Byrne to conduct the RTÉ Concert Orchestra throughout the Ceremony with a specially arranged Musical Extravaganza which includes a key performance by one of Ireland’s most spectacular voices Jack Lukeman, who will deliver a powerful rendition of one of Cinema’s longest standing and most iconic music themes to be revealed on the night.

The Academy will pay tribute to colleagues who have passed through a poignant visual Memoriam piece being screened alongside a special performance by internationally renowned Violin Soloist Aoife Ní Bhriain who will play a specially composed Lament by Brian Byrne complimented by the Orchestra.

Update from the red carpet @ 6:45pm
No sign of Colin Farrell or Michael Fassbender yet. Speculation was fuelled earlier on that both would be attending. May still arrive.

I'll be gutted if young Fassbender doesn't make an appearance this evening :(
