A 19 year old unemployed woman was offered a job at a brothel by her local job centre. The job entailed serving drinks at the regions largest nude bar & brothel.

    http://www.thelocal.de/society/20130207-47821.html#.URTKzvLdrEZ
The unnamed teen had been looking for work since last November and was thrilled when the job centre finally sent her an offer last week. But serving drinks at a nude bar at one of Bavarian city Augsburg's biggest brothels, the Colosseum, was not exactly what she had in mind.

The trained housekeeper told the Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper she was “totally horrified” at the suggestion as was her mother, who screamed after reading about the 42-hour working week, with shifts on mostly evenings and weekends.

Augsburg's job centre told the newspaper that they knew they were offering positions in a brothel but were careful to ring potential applicants to talk about the job before sending a letter, to see if they were suitable and explain the job.

This had not happened in the young woman's case though, which director of the centre Roland Fürst told the newspaper was a mistake. “We would never offer jobs in prostitution,” he stressed, but added that “we knew the establishment was operating in the red light district.”

That the centre had not spoken with the 19-year-old on the phone first was, Fürst said, “something that should not have happened.” He added that “we are very sorry.” Eight other potential brothel employees received phone calls.

    Would you take the job?

Yeh, I never got this, Prostitution is legal in Germany so why not offer the jobs openly.

Its not like they said "GO WH0RE YOURSELF OR LOSE YOUR DOLE"

Edit: Ah.. just a barmaids job, not whooring herself at all.

I dont see what the problem is. The prostitution industry in Germany is regulated and they're classed as a normal business.

I got called for an interview at a strip club once, I'm fairly sure there was a brothel as well (this was in a country where it is legal). I said I wasn't looking for that kind of work and then they said I could work on the bar or on reception, they had loads of work going. Eh, no thanks.

Just goes to show what industries are doing well though, doesn't it?

If I was looking for a job, and they paid well, of course I would... whyever not?

I don't see the problem with working as a receptionist or at the bar in a strip club/brothel, especially in countries where its perfectly legal. It's certainly far more rewarding than sitting at home and getting the dole.

Well I do see a problem - I'm not a big fan of the treatment of women in strip clubs or the idea of them in general. However, that's not a debate for now. Sufice to say I don't agree with them and wouldn't work there.

I was also not unemployed and doing skilled work. They got my CV by dodgy means,

each to their own though, it just wouldn't be for me.

Don't see the issue-it was a bar staff job wasn't it? Unless she was expected to do her job in the nip I really don't see the issue. She's free to turn it down like.

Literally my only problem with prostitution is the human trafficking/abuse of the ladies involved. I would be interested to see if that would improve with the legalization and legislation for it would help.

It's not for everyone, but I don't judge girls that work as escorts/strippers/bar girl in a strip club.

I dont see what the problem is with that. They offered her the job, they didnt say she had to do it. For all they knew it could have been her dream job so why not offer it.

You've never worked in a call center have you.

No - and I hope I never have to. I've worked in a company with a call centre that did sale via outbound cold calling. It looked horrific!! :)

I'd have to negotiate that I'd only work in the non-smoking rooms, so.

If she refused the job they will cut her dole so she's screwed.
Take the job and there's a possibility she will get screwed.
Whatever her decision is she's screwed.

Last time I either saw this story, or a story similar to the one quoted in the OP, eventually they were assigned a job with such a club. Which they subsequently turned down, but it was without interviews / proposals for the job.

There's plenty of organisations I'd have a moral issue working for- for instance if I was assigned a job in a chemical testing lab that tested on animals or Fianna Fáil's head office or something.

I'd be much happier taking a bar job in a strip joint/brothel (if it was legal here like in Germany).

Meh, I would. A job is a job and, although I'd probably feel awkward as **** for the first few days, I wouldn't have a problem working in a strip-club.

What if it was an all male strip club and brothel with male only customers?

Would you be happy in that environment?

It wouldn't bother me. I see my own body every time in the shower, exactly how would seeing semi-naked/fully naked men on a stage bother me? Well, besides jealousy.
If anything I'd be less awkward.

I'd take the job. Previously worked in a bar with the majority of customers being male. Got used to the leering quite quickly. If it's legal, a job is a job.

This seems to be the main issue.

I worked in a bookies and I got used to it too. Unfortunately if you work somewhere where a load of older men tend to go, it's part of the parcel.
