If she cant work due to a condition associated with her pregnancy than she should be applying for Health and Safety Benefit instead of Illness Benefit.
    http://www.welfare.ie/en/pdf/hsb1.pdf
    You must complete parts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7.
Your employer must fill in, sign and stamp part 4.
Your GP must fill in, sign and stamp part 8.
Do it now today to avoid any further stress for your wife.

she has been getting the illness benefit since mid oct n why now al of a sudden do they want to review her.she is due end of may and is actualy sick every day. this is causing major stress which is not needed. from what i understand once you c the department doc your claim is stopped?

Its normal practise, I had to go twice, attend the appt, generally 5 to 10 mins long, state your case and payment will continue..............do not attend and your payment will be stopped

Everyone who is on illness benefit is called to the Dept doctor after a certain period of time of claiming, to be assessed by them.
The claim isn't stopped after the assessment unless its decided they do not have a legitimate case but it will definitely be stopped if she doesn't attend the assessment.
If she wants to receive the benefit she must continue to abide by the rules.
