I dont have huge amounts of pictures stored or video, although I watch alot of clips nd stuff. I only have 756kb free of 122gb, so can anyone give me straight forward simple instructions how to free up space as I need to do it asap, many thanx

Because your files are stored by default in the Users folder which is on the C drive. In layman's terms, that D drive is useless because the operating system doesn't know what to do with it.

You can create new folders on the D drive (e.g. Photos, Videos, Music), add them to the respective libraries as additional locations and move the files over. This will free up some disk space on the C drive and they will still be in your library.

So you have two drives, C and D in my computer. What files are using the most disk space.

Simply cut and paste your videos from C to D

If you are using something like itunes, you can copy your music to the D drive. Once you do this you need to go into settings and point itunes to the new folder

Make new folders on drive d, music, video, photos, then drag and drop
folders ,or files from c to d.when you are sure files are all copied over,,
open folders in drive c, delete the files.
    see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Select-multiple-files-or-folders
    see
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windowsxp/ht/copy-file--windows-xp.htm
open folder s in d to make sure all the files are copied,
You can copy folders, drag and drop to D:
    or copy individual files.

    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
    download,install ,run ccleaner.
IT deletes old temporary files from derive c.
IT should free up maybe gigabytes of space on drive c.

Also set your browser to delete all history on exit, That will clear up a host of space and stop it from clogging up again. You could also move your pagefile to your D: drive or if you have 4GB of RAM then dispense with the pagefile altogether.
Also set a limit on the amount of space you allocate to the system restore function.
