    Hey all,

I'm looking to build/buy a PC for my parents and I really don't want to spend a whole lot on it if at all possible. My Dad does do some photoshop but other than that it will basically just be used for documents and internet. I don't need a copy of Windows and I already have a case, hard drives, keyboard and mouse so I really only need a CPU, Motherboard, RAM and a PSU.

So far I have put the following together for €162 including delivery. I'm just wondering if this can be beaten and can anyone do it cheaper?

    Motherboard: Asus P8H61-MX/USB3 - €50
    CPU: Intel Celeron G1610 - €39
    RAM: 2 x Corsair 2G DDR3 1333MHz - €19
    PSU: Corsair 430W - €40

PS I would like to have USB 3.0 in it (hence the above mobo) but if someone can talk me out of that I would be happy too! :)

    Thanks,
    fb

are you adding an SSD? if you are not you won't really see a massive speed benefit of USB 3.0 and the face that the motherboard supports SATA 300 means that any SSD you would potently buy will be bottlenecked by the controller so in summary USB 2.0 would probably do for such a low budget build..

also cause i'm bored spec with HWVS i saved you €2.69 inc delivered all be it very slightly weaker CPU

    Item|Price
    4GB-Kit G-Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€20.94
    ASRock H61M-DG3/USB3, Sockel 1155, mATX|€44.09
be quiet! Pure Power 300 Watt / BQT L7|€38.22
    Intel Celeron Dual-Core G550 Box, LGA1155|€37.07
    Shipping|€18.99

Aside from different manufacturers, they are pretty much the same thing bar one or two very minor differences like the AsRock board having an extra PCieX1 slot.

Thanks. I won't be adding an SSD I'd say, not for the forseeable future anyway but I was thinking it will probably be there for a few years so max compatability and all that.

I suppose I could go with USB 2.0 and get an adapter at a later stage via a PCI line or something?

USB 3 is great if you use flash drives a lot. Or external hard drives and aren't using eSATA. It's a worthwhile feature in my opinion. For an office build, I would definitely try and use an SSD instead of HDD, although this could be at odds with "as cheap as possible. Still, there's some OKish SSDs at the €50 mark.
