EPC2425 versus EPC3925

    Hi,
Currently on the 50 meg UPC package with phone and TV. I have the EPC2425 connected to a WRT54GL (Tomato) which is setup as the DMZ. No complaints with this setup.

Do I have anything to loose by upgrading to the EPC3925? Been gathering info from the various threads so is this correct?

    (1) I'll get the full 50 meg speed instead of been limited to 30 meg.

    (2) The EPC3925 currently has an offical bridge mode that doesn't take the phones offline and this doesn't require any DIY on the web UI of the router. This would be the main reason I'd upgrade.

    (3) UPC won't give me a free EPC3925 even if I ask nicely so it's going to cost me something?

    Thanks.

    1. Yes
    2. Yup (I use it)
    3. Post on Talk To UPC. They'll do it for free Im pretty sure as its required to receive 50Mb. AFAIK you only pay when you want to upgrade and your package isnt limited by your current unit.

This all said, the EPC3925 isnt the greatest unit. I might try and get the thompson(they say they dont supply it anymore but they do, you just have to push). Supposedly thats not without its problems either.

Actually the one of the UPC reps said yesterday that they are supplying the Thomson router again

I've looked through the threads and the Thomson doesn't appear to actually have a bridge mode?

I still have the 2425, I get good Wifi coverage all over my house, My mother has the 3925 and the wifi is awful, can't use Laptop upstairs. so I will wait 'till UPC issue out new routers (if they ever do) before I choose to upgrade my package.

    Hi all,
Is there a way to use the EPC2425 and the EPC3925 in combination with one another!? My EPC3925 is the main one connected to the UPC cable socket and although the speed is grand the range is crap in my second bedroom. Could I use the EPC2425 which is just left there in a box to possibly boost the signal range to improve the coverage in my room at all!? Might not be possible but at least it's better than sitting in the press gathering dust!!?

    Cheers,
    M
